Other scenes involve Linda Lee making a temporary home in the city of Midvale, Illinois, and an extended version of the tractor sequence in which the possessed machine runs amok on the Midvale streets and kills a civilian. This alleged death scene does not appear in either the International or the 2000 Director's Cut. Another cut scene shows Supergirl unable to find the Omegahedron because Selena keeps it in a lead box, demonstrating that Supergirl's limitations are similar to those of her cousin. The Phantom Zone scenes are also longer.

Christopher Reeve was slated to have a cameo as Superman but bowed out early on. [10] His non-appearance in the film is explained via a news broadcast (overheard by Selena) stating that Superman has left Earth on a "peace-seeking mission" to a distant galaxy. In the Superman documentary You Will Believe..., Director Jeannot Szwarc said Reeve's involvement in this film would have given the feature higher credibility, and admitted he wished Reeve had made a contribution to the film's production. A publicity photo of him as Superman does appear as a poster in Lucy and Linda's shared dorm room. Upon her arrival, she becomes just a powerful as her cousin, but encounters dangerous battles and unexpected obstacles when a mean spirited woman (Faye Dunaway) who practices rituals of the occult takes the power source for herself, and uses it to cause destruction and attempt zenith human status.

As a result of the new Blu-ray transfer, we can see more of Supergirl in flight without the noticeable congestion and the visual composition is less distracting. The brighter and more vibrant colors especially during the special effects scenes, which deserve more a more detailed picture. The Director's Cut looks brighter, but the International Version looks more natural. In the IV Lucy looks over at the staggering Ethan and exclaims: "Look at that dinkleberry!", but Linda doesn't understand the meaning of dinkleberry. The next take, featuring Lucy warning Ethan to be careful, is shown from different camera angles.Nigel finds the Omegahedron's hull and his blonde party acquaintance. Lucy hinders Jimmy from taking a picture of the place where Selena's mountain used to be, pointing out they wasted too much time already. Ported over from the DVD release, the supplemental items aren’t new but they are solid. Fans get a 50-minute Making Of feature, the International Cut of the movie, and the Director’s Cut of the movie which may or may not improve the film. You decide.

The extras for Supergirl all reside on the International Versions' disc. For starters and probably the best extra for fans is the informative and insightful audio commentary by the director, Jeannot Szwarc, and the special project consultant, Scott Michael Bosco. Its filled with all sorts of neat tidbits and historical facts concerning the film. You also get the original 1984 "Making of Supergirl" featurette, which is hosted by Faye Dunaway. It runs about fifty minutes in length, and contains interviews with quite a few of the cast and crew, including Helen Slater. Also present are the theatrical trailers, television spots, storyboards, a still gallery, talent bios, closed captions, and the THX Opti-mode calibration test for audio and video signals. Finally, I would like to make a dedication to the brilliant film music composer Jerry Goldsmith who of course composed all the film score for ‘SUPERGIRL’ and said he wanted it to be very different from the composed music for the films of ‘Superman,’ but if you close your eyes you will think it was the composed music for the films of ‘Superman’ which is a shame, but despite that, you soon forget about it once you get into the film and all in all it is a very enjoyable music experience and really enhances the ‘SUPERGIRL’ film.
