About this deal

The “life-size” description is a subjective term, depending on the age and subspecies of the snake.

Verdi is a snake that’s born a tad bit unique in the deep forest where every serpent is green. This little slithery creature is a bright shade of yellow. Young readers will learn the value of accepting oneself as you are in this beautifully drawn picture book from the author of Stellaluna. Young Verdi does not desire to grow large and turn emerald. It’s all about the biology. However, writing and illustrations were not sacrificed to accommodate the technical details. Why you should buy this: This book won’t be for everyone. It’s set in 1978 and as such some ‘older’ un-PC language exists. As well, if a book that can be completely summed up as “a snake in Central Park” doesn’t excite you then I’d suggest you’ll DNF this. This book is overflowing with information and stunning photos covering almost one-seventh of all known snake species worldwide. It is a fabulous desk reference for snake lovers; it’s organized alphabetically and has alphabetical indices for both species and common names. Plus, it includes many not-so-common species that you may never have heard of were it not for books like this. Welcome to the epic list of snake books! Our scaly, slithering friendsare intimidating animals, often portrayed as monstrous or used to symbolize evil. Yet snakes are also awe-inspiring predators and masters of survival. They come in variety of colors, their scales and patterns stunning and singular. Snakes have also been, particularly this year, a beautiful source of inspiration for book covers. Here is a list of snake books that explore, are inspired by, or feature snakes. You are free to walk your youngster through the lovely illustrations in the book. We also encourage parents to read the short passage to their youngsters before bed or when they are both settling in for the night. This book vividly depicts the fascinating and astonishing world of snakes. Fascinating information about these lovely creatures’ biology, senses, eating habits, and more are between the covers. Lighthearted, anecdotal, and conversational, this text may not be the first book you gravitate toward to when you are looking for info on snakes. However, it is a text you do not want to miss out on… This is a lush fantasy based in Chinese folklore. It is set in the ancient Kingdom of Xia and tells the story of Skybright, a young girl who by day is the companion to the youngest daughter of a wealthy family. However, she also struggles with an inner darkness at night, leading to a fight to retain her sense of self despite learning of her foreboding destiny. Five Dark Fates(Three Dark Crowns #4) byKendare Blake (September 2019)

Author David Steen looks at the mythologies behind snakes and breaks down what is true and what isn’t. While you may think some myths are self-explanatory, Steen looks at their origins and if there are nuggets of truth in the myths. This book covers all 137 species of snakes in Africa, and as well as covering the dangerous ones, this book includes 70 species that are often confused with the venomous species. It also covers the type of venom produced by each species and its effects on snakebite victims. It features stunning photos and depicts all of the snake species in the book with a thorough profile of each. Also included is first aid advice if you get bit and tips on how to avoid being bitten in the first place. Yet another gorgeous snake book cover! Five Dark Fates is the fourth and final book in a stunning series, so if you’re into this from the cover alone but haven’t read the first three, start from the beginning! The series begins with Three Dark Crowns and tells the story of triplet sisters who are bound to battle for their island kingdom once they turn sixteen. Miscellaneous Snake Books The Snakes by Sadie Jones I also wasn’t a fan of the Church that was involved. I understood why, what with the evil symbolism of the snake and how the Church worked to get people amped up, but overall, until the ending it was a distraction. It combines intriguing visuals with straightforward text to make learning about snakes fun and exciting for kids.
