About this deal

The CS540 has been dubbed the winner of office headsets for UK businesses – so we decided to call on our experts to put it to the test and find it just what is leading its popularity, and what competitors are out there. CS540 Headset Key Features Firstly – this model prides itself on being lighter. Weighing in at just 21 grams, the CS540 features the lightest DECT headset on the market. According to American Doctor Duncan McDougall who tried to weigh the human soul, he believed it came in at exactly 21 grams. While we wonder where he got that from, perhaps it helps give you an idea of how light this headset is.

As well as it’s lightweight design, the CS540 is better in other ways too. With an increased range for maximum mobility, one-touch controls, energy efficient power management, simple plug-and-talk installation, it’s already proving itself as a top competitor. Option D) Install CS540 with an Electronic Hook-Switch Cable (EHS) for remote answer and hang-up. (Sold Separately) This wireless headset with handset lifter gives complete wireless freedom to communicate at work. There is a range of 100m and is compatible with EHS cables and handset lifters for remote call answering. Outstanding audio quality To mute/unmute the headset, push in the volume/mute button. When you press the mute button, you will immediately hear 3 beeps in the headset to indicate mute on and off.B-1) Plug the Telephone Interface Cable into the headset port (usually located on the bottom of the phone). D-1) Unplug your Telephone Interface Cable from the base (From Step 2) and store for future use – Do Not Throw It Away! In case you change phones in the future, you may need this cable, depending on compatibility. Plantronics CS540 cordless headset is the wireless headset replacement of the globally-recognised Plantronics CS55 and Plantronics CS50… it’s lighter, newer and carries more features than before, without anything too unusual or outstanding to take you by surprise. The CS540 is perfect in its simplicity and efficiency, perhaps leading it to the top of the shopping list for so many businesses. The optional Plantronics HL10 handset lifter provides the added capability of answering calls away from your desk with the push of a button, allowing you to answer and end calls from anywhere in the office this device fits on your telephone base and lifts the handpiece up or down when you push the button on your headset. The CS540 even has the ability to conference up to three users on the same line - more proof the Plantronics CS540 has raised the bar for desk phone headset systems.

The CS540 also has the ability to conference up to three users on the same line, which, depending on your business needs, could be a deal breaker for an office headset. The Plantronics CS540 headset also has premium wideband audio quality as well as wireless mobility, all with the same reliability for hands-free productivity that has made the CS family such a popular choice for so many years.

D-3) Plug the other end of the Electronic Hookswitch Cable (EHS) into your telephone’s Headset Interface Port. Please see the documentation that was included with your specific EHS Cable for proper installation. Your CS540 base has two volume adjustment dials (Speaker 1-4 & Microphone 1-6) and one compatibility slide switch (Labeled A-G). The Compatibility Slide Switch (settings A-G) is the true “Brains” of the Plantronics CS540 when setting it up. This adjustment is what configures the CS540 to work with hundreds, if not thousands of telephones currently on the market. Setting “A” is the default setting that works with most telephones. If you find you can’t hear you caller, your caller can’t hear you, or it sounds distorted, continue sliding to the next letter until you find the setting that sounds the best. Once set, you will not need to adjust the Compatibility Slide Switch again, unless you change phones. The first thing to understand is the Call Control Button. This is how you turn your headset on and off. This is also the button to press if you’re using the HL10 Handset Lifter or EHS Cable to answer/hang-up calls remotely while away from your desk. When the headset is in use, the LED indicator light will flash white. The Speaker Volume dial (settings 1-4) is the major adjustment for what you hear. If you need to adjust it, turn the dial until you feel the dial slide into the next numbered position. Once you find a comfortable setting, remember from Step 4, you also have a fine tune speaker adjustment on the headset which allows you to make small volume adjustments from call to call. As you know each call you take is different so having a volume control on the headset lets you easily adjust as needed.
