About this deal

Though I would have preferred a greater exploration of Jean-Luc's troubles, Alexandra's journey though, is one of discovery, of self-understanding and realisation of what she is capable of. I imagine the thrill of an illicit affair is pretty good escapism for many of us right now. Overall, a convincing and enjoyable read. This makes quite a bit of sense when you think about it. In fact, there's a ready-made mnemonic for you! Sometimes you come across a book that you start to read and realise that it's nothing like you had expected it to be. This book was a breath of fresh air really as it went beyond the usual women's fiction path and took us more on an emotional, very grown-up journey of an adulterous affair and the rippling effect it has on all those involved. It sounds totally unrelated to English at first, but many English “heart-y” words have their root in the French cœur. Courage, cardio, cordial, accord, chord, and the list goes on. Even the word “core” – the centre or essence of something – is widely believed to come from cœur. No, really. Cute is a very popular loan word in Quebec, and you can use it just like “cute” in English. How to say “Sexy” in French

Celui-ci vous sera entièrement remboursé au moment du départ si aucun dégât n'a été constaté dans l'hébergement. The central storyline of infidelity was really well told. Alexandra’s extra-marital affair sizzled with passion and I think Costello accurately described what an affair would be like – the drama and the secrecy. It is what I imagine that situation to feel like. Costello managed to present this affair whilst maintaining the likeability of her protagonist. So if you wanted to say something romantic like “Good morning, my love” in French, you’d say “ Bonjour mon amour.

Don't worry though. There are enough ways to express how amazing something is in French that the language hardly needs yet another word. Here's a small list of French synonyms for “amazing”: So, what if you want to describe someone as hot-looking in French? Well, sexy, mentioned earlier, is a pretty reliable term that expresses the same thing. Despite that little niggle I honestly couldn’t recommend this book enough. It is a very honest look at infidelity and how it’s effects on all the parties involved. This is a magnificent story. On the occasion of the inauguration of the operation, Nicolas Houzé, CEO of Galeries Lafayette, declared: "As we all gradually return to normal life, it was essential for us to take part in the revival of Paris by placing it at the heart of our summer event. Paris Mon Amour is also a way of celebrating the resilience we have all shown, and our ability to look forward to a brighter future by promoting what makes it a must-see destination for French and international visitors.Just when I was about to write this post, I found out about Christina Grimmie, a 22-year old singer who I happened to listen to, and was amazed with her beautiful edgy voice. She was killed yesterday by a guy few years her senior. Why? We won't fond out since he shot himself shortly afterwards. That incredibly sad story shades yet another light onto the book I wholeheartedly recommend reading. Last year we had the Paris By Light and Paris by Night Palettes which were really beautiful and still available at some retailers. It is Jean-Luc, seventeen years younger than her, and the son of Philippe's best friend who becomes her answer and she embarks on a sensuous and compulsive affair with him. Besides the French words and phrases listed above, there are other ways to express your love and affection. Here are some of my personal favourite beautiful French words: I don’t mind admitting that the ending of Paris Mon Amour did take me by surprise. I’ll even confess to shedding a tear or two along the way. I don’t often cry at books, but this is a very emotional book, and I loved Isabel Costello’s sensuous style of writing. I really hope that there will be a second novel from her before too long! This is a beautifully written story, which captures the esscence of Paris and love. As we go on a journey with Alexandra, i have full empathy with her and could easily relate to how she was feeling at times and what she was doing. Weather her decsions were right or wrong. She is an easy character to like. Alexandra doesnt expect to fall for Jean-Luc, but he gives her everything her husband isnt. The sex is out of this world, he listens to her and gives her these tingling feelings that no one has ever managed before. Jean-Luc ignites that spark and Alexandra finds is hard to walk away. The first is au revoir. It's the everyday word for “goodbye” in French that you'll hear all the time. Speaking of loan words, the French language has borrowed the English word “sexy”, and the translation is the same: sexy! You can use it exactly how you would use it in English. How to say “Heart” in French Is it ma amour or mon amour? Whether you're speaking to a man or a woman, the term is the same: mon amour. With every increasingly passionate liaison, Alexandra is pulled deeper into a situation that threatens everyone she holds dear.

Paris Mon Amour is beautifully written. It is effortless in absorbing you onto the streets of Paris and into the Parisian lifestyle. I think even if you haven’t been to the city before, you will feel as if you have been transported there through the detailed descriptions, not just of the city itself but of the emotions that being there evokes in the writer. When Alexandra discovers that her husband Philippe is having an affair, she can’t believe he’d risk losing the love that has transformed both their lives. What's interesting though is that the word generally used for “a boyfriend” un copain or “a girlfriend” une copine can also commonly mean “friend”. You'll have guessed that “hot” is a slang word in English when it describes someone's appearance. Like many slang words, “hot” doesn't translate directly to French. But it doesn't simply mean “goodbye”; it's much more eloquent than that. The most accurate translation of au revoir is “until we meet again”. I like this expression. It communicates hope that you'll see each other again one day, even if you're saying au revoir for a long time. The masculine form is usually translated as “handsome” in English when referring to a man. In other instances, both beau and belle can translate as “beautiful”.
