Marketed as a unisex perfume, but I think it suits men better due to its spicy/woody composition. However, if you’re a woman and find it pleasant, don’t let that stop you from trying and enjoying it. If money grows on trees for you and you’re into incredibly weak performing oud scents then be my guest and while you’re at it buy the 250 ml. Lmao. It is a richer, deeper scent of woods with a more prominent oud note compared the original Oud Wood. The longevity is average, lasting 4 to 6 hours on my skin, out of which the first 2 hours have the most projection. I don’t know why they decided to make it so soft, but it could have been better.

Richard Herpin created a Hall of Fame fragrance in Oud Wood. I will always have a bottle of it in my collection and even though I have tons of fragrances, I still wear it all the time. Before diving into the scent development, I have to say that if you’re generally afraid of the oud note, don’t be. This fragrance offers a clean take on this complex note. This is a tough one. It's not a mass appealing scent, and a number of people will be honestly turned off by it, however it is probably in the top 5 of everything I own or have sampled. You must try before you buy. I tested two separate samples extensively and they really stood out in both uniqueness and compliments! It’s dark, spicy woody and smells like plastic, or some type of chemical smell. I get good projection and longevity on my skin. Unfortunately I do not get the beast mode that others have reported. That is a shame. :-( Another occasion where this fragrance shines is on a date. The warm and alluring aroma of this composition makes it an excellent choice for a romantic evening. For a fragrance that has been around since 2007, I have to say that time has been kind to it. With all the reformulations, the basic structure and high-quality ingredients are still present here. I don't LOVE it. I think there is a performance issue for me as well, as not 2 hours later it feels a lot more simple and not really worth the price. So much of the personality of Oud Wood is in the opening while the spices mingle with the mids and base notes, and that is of course gone by now.

Make sure you apply it on a clean skin after shower and not while running sweaty sniffing testers in a perfume store. Right now i can still smell what i had applied 16 hours ago, 2022 batch if you must know. I got my hands on a 2021 batch of Oud Wood; I say this because apparently newer batches like this one are weaker than the older batches according to a lot of people and I just wanted to share my experience with this fragrance. Along with Tuscan Leather, and Tobacco Vanille, this scent has shaped modern 21st-century perfumery, and it is a fragrance everyone should sample. My initial encounter with Oud Wood was quite intriguing. The first time I sampled it, I was in a setting where they were burning Oud Wood incense, and the aroma was incredibly inviting. Oud Wood incense tends to have a mass appeal due to its warm, woody notes, and this fragrance initially seemed to capture that essence. It’s worth noting that for those who might be unfamiliar with traditional oud fragrances, this one could serve as a gentle introduction. Tuscan Leather – a leather fragrance released in 2007. The main notes include leather, raspberry, and saffron. The lasting power is between 10 – 12 hours with great projection.

On skin, this doesn't have any of the medicinal traits of Oud Wood which made me hate it. Instead it has a light, musky metallic tone added to it.
