Or maybe an epic one-day hiking trip, when you need a lot of extra supplies and you are not sure if you are going to need to stay for the night too. Stunning is all i can say. Yes its weight is a little over a pound more but it is both much more comfortable and feature rich than the BD. Granted i still use the BD for climbs and skiing but for anything that calls for hiking light weight in comfort the Osprey can not be beat.The build and the materials feel very sturdy. It feels very good overall. Better yet is that Osprey has a great insurance policy called “ All Mighty Guarantee”. Also, IMHO it is better to have the extra space and not need it (I can allow my fleece to fill the space and breathe), than to have to strap stuff on the outside to make up for it.

What I Didn’t Like

As a hiker, there may be many instances where you need to venture through tight spaces or jagged terrain.

The comfort factor here is truly amazing. Through our evaluation of this product, we determined that the ergonomics are well-designed.What it is perfect for is one-day epic hikes, when you need a lot of gear or fear that you may need to sleep out there. It is for the weekend and the overnight trip, and also for trips up for a week. An array of webbing and compression straps allow you to carry larger items such as sleeping pads. There are dual handy ice axe attachment loops too, so you can carry winter hardware when venturing into the unknown. When the weather takes a turn for the wetter, you absolutely need to keep your things dry, especially your sleeping bag! ( I slept in a wet sleeping bag in a cave in Pakistan once. It was not fun)
