About this deal

Almost all of the characters have special abilities. It's as if the abilities fairy was running around saying "you get an ability, you get an ability, everyone gets an ability!"Some of the abilities seem forced to work into the story. Others are just odd, not seeming to match with the character. The young boy Michael is able to 'mind speak' with his mom like a full-grown adult and though he speaks 'older' than his age, it's not as grown up as in the 'mind-speak'. Jane receives some clarity when Seth Caleb shows up. Because that is what Seth does, clarifies everything. Okay, I’m lying because he just messes with Jane’s head. The ending to this had lots of twists, and it was these that definitely bumped up the rating on this one for me. The slowness of this story made it a three, but the twists made it a 4.

The characters were extremely flat and their relationship were quite ridiculous. I mean, Luna falls for a boy three days after she met him. The secondary characters are quite stereotypical. Ein Spannungsbogen ist zwar vorhanden, aber dieser fällt doch eher gering aus und es gab nur wenig überraschende Momente. urn:lcp:mindgames00mast_0:epub:35538040-cea5-4956-832e-1a758102c071 Extramarc University of Alberta Libraries Foldoutcount 0 Identifier mindgames00mast_0 Identifier-ark ark:/13960/t58d2b719 Invoice 11 Isbn 9780880294478My one issue is with a few medical inaccuracies - such as a guy with a minor gunshot wound to the chest and a couple of broken ribs maneuvering himself around in a wheelchair . . . Um. Broken ribs alone are incredibly painful, and using your upper-body strength to push yourself in a wheelchair would be far more painful and taxing than just walking. The poem sent to Kaely – which foreshadows the events of this riveting thriller – is chilling, precipitating a race against time to stop the murders before they happen … if they can figure out who is the next target. So much great psychological profiling as Kaely and Noah try to stay a step ahead, and if you’re a fan of “Criminal Minds” on TV you’re going to love this too. But Mind Games is more than just a collection of puzzles - this book will help you to create new habits to keep your grey matter active and healthy. Here, Dr. Tim Beanland, Head of Knowledge at Alzheimer's Society, provides expert insights into the science of brain health and the benefits of regular mental exercise.

But, sadly it fell flat for me. It was a good read and there were some things about it that I loved, Kaely's profiling system in particular was fascinating to read about! While I really wanted to love this one, I just didn't ever fully connect with it, and I'm not really sure why that was. What I did like was the idea that her mental health isn't where it needs to be yet, but to say more is a spoiler. While I am a Christian, I had a difficult time buying how the characters became Christians--again, a bit too cookie-cutter, but I disagree with the atheist reviewer who thought it was dissing all other forms of faith--those weren't even mentioned, but by and large if you read Christian fiction you can rest assured it is written for a Christian audience and they are rarely deep or philosophical which is why I read so few of them. Mind Games, an annual gaming convention sponsored by American Mensa where the Mensa Select prize is awarded Luna lives in a world where the majority of the population has an implant allowing them access to a virtual world. Everyone learns, lives, plays and interacts in this virtual world. Luna is one of few “Refusers”, who choose not to have an implant and do things the old way, like learn in a physical classroom with physical teachers. When she does enter the virtual world, we discover that she has a dangerous secret: she is aware of both the virtual world and the real world around her.

Absolute stealing of this. Mindgame (Doctor Who), two direct-to-video film dramas based on the TV series Doctor Who in 1997 and 1999 Jane MacGuire has begun to be plagued by dreams of a girl that she feels that she should know but just can't quite grasp who this is that has been visiting her night after night. Jane does know one thing however and that is she feels this girl is in some kind of trouble and needs Jane's help. Drawing out the scenes of what she's seen in her dreams of the girl and her surroundings Jane is determined to find out just who the girl is and what she needs. In the end, Kaely thinks she’s equal to everything and gets herself in the power of the serial killer of the day and is heavily drugged by the guy. I really disliked some of the things that went on while she was under the influence.

The idea behind this book was great, and it was interesting enough for me to finish, though at times I was tempted not to. I had several issues with the book:

Slutningen var til gengæld barsk og uforudset og jeg vil så gerne kunne sige, at det gjorde bogen hammer god og fantastisk, men faktisk var det så chokerende, at jeg måtte lukke bogen i og tage et par dybe vejrtrækninger før jeg kunne fortsætte - så vær forberedt...
