Thranduil: The aloof and cold-hearted Elven king of the northern part of Mirkwood (the Woodland Realm). To have this many named minifigures in a set feels unprecedented, especially characters that are as sought-after as Lord of the Rings minifigures. Buying the older Fellowship of the Ring minifigures on the secondary market would cost you as much as the set itself.
We called yesterday again after the event and it turns out it was quite a different story. Not many people showed up, everyone got it signed and they were left with lots of unsold sets they said. I think printing this circlet is actually more successful than using a dedicated hair component, as the minifigure from 79006 The Council of Elrond does. However, exactly the same rubbery piece appears on Arwen and such repetition between the Elves is noticeable. A couple of alternatives should definitely have been produced for these minifigures, replicating Arwen's wavy hairstyle. Beyond theme-specific elements, that green fern element scattered around stands out as something new, and likely to find plenty of use across the wider LEGO portfolio in 2023 and beyond. All characters can sit down at the council, which is really nice as it allows you to re-create the Council scenes with little to no compromises.
It’s great to get an older version of Bilbo, who is now ageing normally after having surrendered the Ring. Frodo of course, comes with the shiny One Ring, and the other Hobbits have accessories matching their personas. Display your way! Legolas Greenleaf appears equally detailed, as metallic silver patterns complement the earthy colours of his attire. Sand green and sand blue look marvellous together and the dual-moulded boots are effective as well.
