About this deal

You can easily do the necessary changes from your Drift Life App, I find it more easy and effective that way.

The normal bit rate is 29Mbit per second which is good enough for a 1080p resolution. Dash Cam Mode (Loop Recording) Simple and solid essentially sums up this action camera. The sleek design makes it a perfect option for side mounting on a helmet, and with a huge array of mounts available, attaching it to almost anything isn’t difficult. Mounts are always an important factor with any action camera, and here the Drift utilises its style of clip mount. While this isn’t the GoPro three-prong style universally used by many manufacturers in practical use, it offers a far more rigid connection with anything it’s mounted to. In the past, before decent EIS, this mount proved itself for its robust build and reduction in vibration when compared with the GoPro equivalent. You get the option to set the tagged interval which denotes the durations your videos will be shot at.

Garmin Varia RCT715

Weighing at 127 grams, the Ghost XL has a body dimension of 3.6 x 1.9 x 1.4 inches, and it features a bullet-shaped plastic body that is very comfortable to use in cycling or motorcycle riding. The Ghost XL provides 3 options to choose from in the diagonal field of view. This is similar to what we got in the X model. However, I don’t like the fact that the battery is non-removable. If you need to change your battery for any reason, you won’t be able to and you might have to buy a new camera. The lens can rotate up to 300° meaning that irrespective of your camera mounting location, you can greatly adjust your image level. I have always found this feature to be useful. All buttons are well imprinted and it is easy to distinguish their functionalities. Accessing Menus and Modes

As you’d expect from an action camera, the Ghost XL Pro is IPX7 waterproof, so there are no worries about dropping it in a puddle or mounting it on a surfboard. Others have mentioned the ability to connect an external mic using a waterproof adaptor. Haven't tried this yet but it's looking like it may be an option for low light plates. At the front (above the lens), there is the power button which also functions as the right arrow button. To switch on/off the camera, you press and hold this button for about 3 seconds. The small screen and direct control buttons are only used to start and stop recording, and if you want to change any settings, then the fastest route is through the App. However, the camera supports Bluetooth which can be used to connect to a Drift Innovation remote bought separately. You have the option to choose the interval time that the camera will use to record in loops. E.g. if you go with the 2 minutes interval and record for an hour, you will find 30 video files saved in your memory card each with a recording time of 2 minutes. Video Tagging

Drift innovation uses different colors to indicate modes; the green LED color indicates that the camera is in Video mode, Yellow LED for photo mode, Cyan LED for photo burst mode, and purple for Time Lapse photos. Camera Lens At the end of the test, the Drift Ghost XL Pro put in a solid performance; being able to mount the camera in ways that would usually be impossible gives you plenty more options when it comes to filming and enables plenty of fun. In use, it performs well with the large buttons and beep, enabling you to easily operate the camera even if you can’t directly see it. Never miss a moment. One touch recording with Instant On mode powers the camera and automatically starts recording. Guarantee every crucial moment is captured with Dash Cam Mode. Condense a long trip into a fast-motion video with Video-Lapse mode. Cover all the angles with multi-cam Clone mode, or get the shot after the fact with Drift's signature video tagging. Using the Drift App you can control your camera remotely, change settings or start and stop recording; manually or auto edit content you have filmed, frame your shot with the live preview and save footage to your phone to share to friends and family. With 8 hours of battery life and IPX7 Waterproof protection, you'll never miss anything that matters to you. While the Ghost XL Pro offers plenty of mounting options, it doesn’t offer quite so many advanced features. There is a screen, although it’s a mono LCD rather than a full-blown colour touch screen. One of the most impressive features is the internal battery that can provide up to 7 hours of battery life when recording at 1080p or 4.5 hours at 4K. To put this into context, that’s over double that of the standard GoPro battery. Under Time Lapse photo settings, you have the opportunity to navigate through the photo Resolution and Time Lapse Interval. Similar to its predecessor, the Ghost XL does not support slow-motion recording. Even though the maximum frame rate is 60fps, the camera doesn’t have a slow-motion feature.

Video Lapse stitches together a Time Lapse video and saves it on your memory card automatically without the need for editing. Out on trial, and the mounting options are well beyond the GoPro or, for that matter, any other action camera; want to put it on your bike forks? Not a problem; attach and rotate the lens. The battery life is impressive and Drift should continue with that trend with their upcoming models. When cycling, I have never, for once, ran out of power. Besides the build quality and the design being minimalistic and sleek, there’s little else to comment about the camera’s build. This is a big, sturdy camera with big, sturdy mounts and some potentially useful features for cars and motorcycles. Despite the (big, sturdy) addition of bar and helmet mounts for bicycles, though, little about the Ghost XL makes it particularly good for cycling. Verdict Keeping with the waterproof features, a waterproof adapter enables you to connect to accessories such as a mic or external power source. This I like as it means that you can mount and essentially not have to worry about the power going to the camera or record a voice-over through the action if required, perfect if you’re thinking about a bit of rally driving!
