Flamigel ®RT is a hydro-active colloid gel that guards from radiotherapy induced dermatitis and provides a barrier against external contamination. Hold in place with your bra or netting/ tubifast. Avoid using tape within the treated area to secure dressings. Netting/ tubifast – cut the gusset in a pair of netting pants and wear like a 'boob tube'. Cut additional arm holes if you wish to make into a vest to hold dressings in place. (Dressings can be used alone or with 1% Flamazine cream, Flaminal Hydro/Forte or Activheal hydrogel.) Flamigel ® RT helps to create optimal healing conditions to accelerate cell renewal, allowing the compromised skin to heal fast and therefore reduce the likelihood of scarring. You may find that for a few weeks after your treatment has finished any reaction that you have had may get a little worse before it starts to get better. Changes to the skin often peak between one to three weeks after treatment has finished but this can vary person to person. The skin often takes a few weeks to settle. It is advisable to continue with your skincare and pain relief during this time. You can start to reintroduce your usual products once you feel your skin is settling down. If irritation occurs wait a few more days then try again.Avoid sun exposure within the treated area as your skin will be very sensitive. Sun beds are not recommended during or after radiotherapy. Your nipple and areola (area around the nipple) may become darker/ flaky and very occasionally moist/ crusts. If product enters the eye, wash immediately with warm water. The product should not be applied to either broken (cut and abrasions) sunburnt or eczematous skin, nor should it be used in patients with severe acne involving large areas of the body.
