About this deal

Twelve has chosen a Hunter name to reflect her elemental powers: Phoenix. When she and her friends learn that the witch-palace of Icegaard is in grave danger, they must battle frightening new monsters and find a way to defeat the evil force. It's wonderful in every way. The friendship at the core of these adventures is the best. I love their humour, how they grow together and support each other. Six is my personal favourite :3

I wouldn't say it's better than the first one, and that's because the first one was fabulous. But it's definitely not worse. They're both equally as well crafted and developed, humorous, heartfelt, fantasy stories, perfect for children and adults alike. This book just gave Aisling a chance to further develop the world and characters she has created. This sequel blazes even brighter than Fowler’s debut. The Fireborn trilogy is sure to be one of those rare fantasy series that captures hearts and imaginations for years to come’ A. F. Steadman The witches of Frost Palace have not been heard from in a long, long time and are more of a myth when suddenly Nara and her ice eagle, Chiara, show up to ask the Hunter clan for a favor. They need Phoenix to return to Frost Palace to help save them from Shadowseam, an evil force that arrived long ago and has caused death and destruction among the witch clan. Elder Hoarfrost sends Phoenix, Six, Seven and Five to Frost Palace with Nara. Dog is sent on a secret mission to find Victory and Morgren, their enemies. At Frost Palace, Phoenix is paralyzed by her fear of failure and Dog is endangered by the waters of the Clasp. The perfect balance of high adventure, breathless action and eerie wonder’Jonathan Stroud, author of the Bartimaeus Series Die Figuren finde ich sehr gelungen, besonders fünf und sechs, sie sind lustig!

The perfect balance of high adventure, breathless action and eerie wonder.” —Jonathan Stroud, New York Times bestselling author of the Bartimaeus Sequence What I wasn't necessarily expecting were the twists and turns in it. Some children or young adult books can be quite simplistic, focusing on a linear narrative that's easy to follow. But this really leans into the more developed story, where you're not always convinced you know the truth and I think that's great fun. An utterly compelling and wildly imaginative adventure! I loved it!” —Tamzin Merchant, author of The Hatmakers This book should come with a CANNOT BE PUT DOWN warning. Children are going to fall in love with this heart-stopping adventure, and I was with Twelve and Dog every thrilling step of the way.” —Jenny McLachlan, author of The Land of Roar

There's a lot more at stake with this one. Whereas the first was predominately focussed on the goings-on at the hunting lodge - with a little adventure - the repercussions of the dangers in the sequel spread much further than Phoenix or the others ever expected. A very underwhelming addition to a first book that I wholeheartedly loved. Ah, well. I guess this just wasn't for me. I'm still considering whether to continue with this series. There just wasn't the depth, the complexity, the darkness, or the action that I loved so much in the first book. I really miss the character dynamics that felt so fresh but now feel shoved out of the main focus of the plot. Still, Six and Five's friendship has my heart. A monster-filled adventure set in a wildly imaginative frozen world, with axe-wielding action scenes that’ll make your heart race! I couldn’t put it down.” —Annabel Steadman, New York Times bestselling author of Skandar and the Unicorn Thief Fireborn swept me away to a rich, vibrant world filled with bold characters and enthralling monsters. A fantastic debut.” —Joseph Elliott, author of The Good Hawk
