About this deal

The friendship group is one you want more from. The kind where you can’t wait to read the stories that shaped their characters. Lacey is definitely one to watch, and Theo, I want his story!! Oh my heart! I practically read this book in a single sitting because Dia and Finn had an incredible magnetism. Diamine, tu sei come lei…» Sbuffa e beve un altro sorso. «Affidabile, comprensiva, gentile. Dio, sei così fottutamente gentile che mi viene da vomitare, cazzo».

I made a deal with the devil without reading it first. Of all his pretty lies, I love you was the worst.” Xavier smiles at my failed attempt to deny the undeniable. Let’s not pretend like puberty didn’t do every female on earth a solid when Xavier Emery went from “cute” to “sinfully hot” in the span of a summer. Those who know me very well, know that high school and college bully romance are my favorite tropes. Alright, in my more rational moments when the PTSD associated with wooden spoons isn't still clouding my vision, I can recognize that's not entirely true. The way the story began is not new to me, I have already read books that have as their basis precisely this exchange of anonymous messages. The author, however, did a great job of capturing my interest. I was captivated by the relationship between Vee and Xavier, a little less so what surrounds it.

When a guy like that sees a girl like you, a girl who doesn’t look easy or desperate, they get intimidated. Label her high-maintenance and run like hell. You are beauty and brains, Vee. You’re an immature high school boy’s worst nightmare.” Vee and Xav are kindred spirits united by heartache, deception and trauma. Their love feels like a true happily ever after; a happily ever after impressively achieved in one beautifully written standalone. This story and the characters within it gave me so many feelings but Vee really stood out for me. She’d been through so very much at the beginning of the book and the hurdles just kept coming and yet she was so selfless. Yes, she made mistakes but if anything, that humanised her even more. She was willing to lose everything to protect the man she loved even if it meant she might never truly get to keep him. She really deserved her HEA and I adored her. Xavier had his moments too. Don’t get me wrong, sometimes he was a bit of a git but he grew so much throughout the book and I feel like he became the best version of himself when he found love with Vee.overall, you’re missing out if you don’t read dia and finn period! this story was a gem (haha crying) of a book and i will never stop talking about these two! Dia is a female character that I've loved since the beginning of the story because she knows what she wants in life and to achieve it she has to work hard, but like any high school student despite her commitment, she falls in love with a boy she shouldn't.
