Three stories dominated the headlines leading into the 2019/20 season: a new Panterra series, the near universal adoption of GripWalk soles and the debut of Lupo Air. The new Panterras didn’t look anything like the prior generation, despite sharing the same wide last and 3-piece shell structure. The 2020 Panterras were slimmer, sleeker and much lighter, but retained a 50-degree range of motion when in hike mode. In 2022, the Panterra series received a new, “instant fit” liner and a new tongue. All Panterras come with GripWalk soles, as do 90% of Dalbello’s collection, including many kids’ models. Tecnica says the T-Drive boots require 15% less forward pressure and 15% less edge angle to make the same turn shape as a traditional boot. The roomy toebox helped our feet stay warm, as did the Celliant and wool-insulated liner. Technica Mach1 HV 120– This is another boot that works for those with wider feet. It’s similar in design, comfort, and performance to the Panterra 120 and has a similar flex and feel. Another solid choice if you want to blend performance and comfort. I had fun playing with the adjustments to find my sweet spot in the boots. Together, they make an awesome boot with significant stiffness to accomplish great performance. Efficiency Evaluation The Panterra range from Dalbello is legendary and the 120 is no exception. The Panterra 120 offers both comfort and performance, design to help take on any conditions. Once again, Dalbello have designed a boot that can fit out of the box, however offers a lot of customisation to give an even more personal fit.

With a worn-down midsole, your foot won’t enjoy adequate support and comfort during ski mode. So do your best to avoid hike mode when wearing this boot. The Grilamid material of the 4-Quattro XT also felt fairly temperature sensitive, which meant on colder days the boot flexed truer to its intended rating, while on warmer spring days it became squishy, especially at the bottom of the flex pattern.
