About this deal

I would recommend it for autumn and winter, the colder it gets the better it smells. Wouldnt wear it at the office because its strong, but if you only wear a bit of it and let it fade, I think it could work. projection and longevity are impressive, but be careful if you dont want to fill a room with it. I could also detect Church-like incense qualities, as Tessture mentioned. In my mind, i'd imagine the incense that was burned during the ancient and sacred nightly rituals/festivities.

I have been wearing this perfume on my right arm for a few hours now and it has not moved from it's horrid and obnoxious opening of bergamot, bergamot and more bergamot! I was hoping for another vanilla to add to my small vanilla collection and this will not be one of them. I bought a mini of this because of the accords listed above, they couldn't be more wrong. This is just another modern perfume that like so many others that have been made in just the last few years that uses bergamot in abundance and it ruins the whole composition. Is bergamot a cheap ingredient? I've seen the essential oil in health food stores and it is very inexpensive so I would say yes and it does smell cheap. A little bergamot adds freshness, to much just turns into a sharp, obnoxious bomb that is just horrid. I would put this fragrance in my top 20 list of worst perfumes I've smelled in the last 13 months. Just sharp, headache inducing and horrid! Byzance is one of my favourite Rochas scents. An amber-spicy white floral, it is beautifully balanced and deeply pleasant from initial spray to final fade. Glamorously feminine in a vintage manner, it is a big, old-school scent, taking inspiration from spicebombs like Opium and Coco, as well as big tuberose scents like Poison. It most closely resembles Givenchy Ysatis, being an aldehylic, woody, white floral scent with spicy notes. Warm and rich, yet airy and soapy, Byzance has it all. Including a beautiful, distinctive bottle. I have a vintage miniature from the late 1990s. I find that the steamy and carnal facets stand out more in the summer, whereas in winter I can enjoy its powdery and woody side. Opening is a clean aromatic nutty vanilla. It's really soft at this point. The mid is floral nutty woody vanilla, and is easily discernible but not loud. The dry down is woody animalic vanilla. Very softly powdery throughout. Overall it's not overpowering but I can smell it even when I'm still. Very long lasting. Yet it's a great perfume. Arabian nights....or my horse jumping that higher fence. The feeling of victory when I approach a finish line.... and you finally wipe out the sweat from your forehead....the smell of an old friend invading your senses....as your wrist approaches your face.Due to the tuberose note, Byzance has also an aspect which resembles Dior's Poison; but the two are certainly different fragrances. Despite the fact that i've never been to Turkey, i could still manage to understand the essence of this aroma; probably because, at the time, we were living in a Mediterranean country, and by that age i was quite aware of the general history of the surrounding Mediterranean cultures. I've reviewed this before. Vintage Byzance resides in the pantheon of great fragrances from the late 80s that were part of my coming of age. So it's not necessary to again assert how utterly beguiling and mysterious I feel when I wear it. It makes me think of a mosaique whose numerous tiny pieces used with great skill turn into a perfectly composed image ... yes , a Byzantine mosaique !

This is definitely someone’s Signature Scent. Not mine, but someone’s! Some people are saying it’s cold. I don’t get that AT ALL. It smells warm to me, hot even, like fire. White Opulence is all I can think of. How else can I describe the hue of the sky as it gets ready for the morning prayer over the Bosphorus than pointing at Byzance’s beautiful bottle… The warm sensation that wraps you up when you breathe in the unmistakable scent of Istanbul, is captured in this concoction with all its spices and florals. I'm very impresses with it, because this is a modern scent, very attractive, sensual, deep, sexy, comfortable and at the same time it brings some elegance and classy feel. I know it sound confusing and controversial, but that's how I feel it.Let's start with the bottle design - so good and luxurious when you hold it in person! It's real pleasure to see so high quality presentation by Rochas! This blue color is stunning and the contrast with the gold nuances is so captivating in reality... However, it is clear that the brand chose Byzance for its strength and history. And the connection with the past is evident from the moment we set eyes on the bottle. The new fragrance was created by Maurice Roucel and Alienor Massenet. The composition includes the following notes: bergamot, neroli, and pear (head); rose, freesia, and heliotrope (body); absolute of vanilla from Madagascar, blond woods and soft musks (base).
