About this deal

Jane and Mary are taken to court where they are offered transportation instead of hanging. They say yes and Mary does not get to say goodbye to her mother before she is taken to a ship bound for Australia. This novel is about a married woman who recently had an argument with her husband. She goes to a bar and while there she meets a man. She heads up to his room for a one night stand. Before she knows it she is thrust into a conspiracy that has dire consequences for her. This is your basic thriller novel. Wendy Gould, a former police officer, had a major argument with her husband one evening. She made plans to meet a girlfriend at a bar the next evening to talk to her. Long story short: Her friend doesn’t show up, texts her that she can’t make it, and Wendy; for the first time in her life, goes up to the hotel room with a very handsome, talented, nice man. What happens next is not what she, or the reader expects. Wendy witnesses his murder, kills a federal agent, and has to flee to protect herself and her family. Mary says goodbye to England, after Mr Nicole finds her mums bible and tries to return it to her but they have moved on. Mary clings to it. She has some strange experiences on ship, she gets close to Sarah, Jane stops speaking to her, two babies are born and Mrs Barnsley has set herself up well.

Her death seems eerily similar to the suspicious fatality of a young socialite years before. Is the similarity of the two tragic incidents simply a coincidence, or could it be a sign of a murderous orchestrated plot to protect those in the highest echelons of the American government? The thriller is thrilling. I mean, there's lots of action, car chases, clandestine meetings, shoot-outs, people holding guns to other people's heads, secret government cover-ups, vendettas, etc. etc. I liked that the writer tied a true event within the story's main plot (again I don't like to give spoilers) but other than that to me there wasn't a whole lot special about it. I am afraid in time I will forget about this story altogether.Mary Wade a poor girl who was only ever trying to help her family seemed to be doing the wrong things, as she goes one step too far one day she finds herself given the death sentence and is put in the worst jail in England. As the King decided to trial every convict she gets an offer of a freedom of sorts; to be sent to a new scary land called New South Wales. Her long and tiresome journey on Lady Juliana is filled with its good and bad parts but though an incredibly long journey she feels the heat, the air and is being fed, getting to see new lands as they stop and having an experience she never dreamt of having. As they eventually land in Australia ready to start their new lives she finally doesn’t feel so alone. To clear her name, Wendy has to unravel a complicated conspiracy to runs to the highest levels of the federal government. This fast paced thriller catches the reader's attention from the start as the action speeds along like a fast moving train. The action details the misfortunes of two women and we see how their paths eventually come together to fight a common adversary.

I do enjoy Kelly’s style of writing, it’s reader-friendly quite fast-paced where it needs to be and each character is memorable.

NO WAY BACK

I bought this because it was going cheap on a clearance table. It was on clearance for a reason. Lesson learned. explaining that yes, she was cheating on her husband but She's Not A Floozy (this is always the deciding factor that tips strangers in helping a wanted fugitive accused of double homicide; they start out wary but as soon as she assures them nothing penetrative happened, it was only kissing and heavy petting, it's all peachy (and yes, strangers who are confronted by a wanted fugitive possible murderer care more about the whole cheating situation than the murdering situation)) Audrey’s heart and mind is very unsettled and Cyprus is not proving much of a distraction especially when she literally falls in the lap of wealthy and handsome businessman Daniel Taylor. Daniel turns out to be Audrey’s very own Prince Charming but is she ready to be swooned so soon?

DI Helen Grace is a genuinely fresh heroine ... MJ Arlidge weaves together a tapestry that chills to the bone' It's a book that contains a fairly large number of characters who all had their own sub plots going on, and at times I found it slightly confusing as to who knew what about which incident, but on the whole all the various goings on added to the attraction of the book, and meant there was never a boring moment. I found, as usual, a couple of copy-editing misses (seems to be pretty typical in e-books), and one small but glaringly improbable scene in which Wendy, the protagonist, colors her dark hair to blonde in "a few minutes" in a public restroom. It's a minor point, but any woman who knows much about hair coloring could have told Gross that going from dark brown to blonde is a somewhat lengthy process involving bleach and toner and would be tough to do in a public restroom without a shower to rinse everything out, and in "a few minutes". Ha! This is a contemporary women's fiction / romance set primarily in London . Audrey Fox is the main character of the story , she has recently been let down by her fiancé just before their wedding and has had her heart well and truly battered . But as one door closes another opens in the form of the gorgeous Daniel, business man and single father.Mary is living in poverty where her mum has to do anything she can to just feed and house them. She finds herself stealing an apple to eat and asking how her mums got money when the wages that her dad sent home was very little. I enjoyed Ms Florentia's style of writing. It's been a while since I read a women's fiction/romance book where the emphasis was on the story itself, and not on the actual sex lives of the characters and we got much more content as a result of that. There's plenty going on to keep your interest and I was excited to see how Audrey would cope with all the twists and turns coming her way. I felt great empathy, as well as sympathy, for her and was definitely cheering her on. The other characters are a mixed bunch and not all of them are likeable. An interesting set of people, many prove to be selfish or obsessed in one way or another. She says, "Stop." And this mensch of a guy, Curtis, hears and obeys (10 extra points to him). She apologizes, he is frustrated but understands, and she goes into the bathroom to get herself dressed and put together again. Daniel Taylor is a very complicated character and Audrey’s first impressions are way off the mark. But the more Audrey lets Daniel into her life the more tangled her new relationship becomes as Daniel has many secrets and until he reveals all to Audrey she cannot clear her mind of her feelings for him. Meanwhile, Lauritzia Velez, a nanny, is also running away from some terrible events. Most of her family have been murdered by a gang, the Los Zetas.

Wendy accepts his invitation to go up to his hotel room. Things get hot and heavy. But before any intercourse of any kind actually happens, Wendy snaps to reality and realizes that she can't have sex with this man. She's married and loves her husband. As written, the book is really three different yet related books in one: (1) the major crisis, (2) the victim on the run, and (3) the metamorphosis and series setup. Mary spends the next few months in filthy Newgate Prison, wondering what will happen to her. She misses her family and is terrified she won't live to grow up and try to have a better life and have children of her own. Then her sentence is commuted to transportation to the new colony of New South Wales (present day Sydney, Australia). Mary is grateful for a chance to survive but sad she will never see England or her family again. The sea voyage is very long and Mary wonders what will await her at the end.Catherine tells Mary Philips (little girl) who stole her dress. The police come and arrest Mary with Jane who is taken to two courts, found guilty and sentenced to death. They are taken to Newgate Prison and make friends with a girl called Sal. Wendy and her husband, Dave, had a spat last night and are still not speaking. She is meeting up with her friend, Pam, in a bar to have some drinks and to talk about it. Pam is running late and Wendy starts chatting with Curtis, who is also at the bar. Pam texts that she can't make it after all and Wendy ends up in Curtis' hotel room. Before it goes too far, Wendy stops things and goes into the washroom to freshen up. While she's in there, she sees a man come into Curtis' room and shoot him. To save herself, Wendy shoots the guy and ends up on the run when she is blamed for the murders. Meanwhile in another area, Lauritzia works as a nanny. She and the two children she is caring for are at the mall. A man starts shooting in the mall. Lauritzia reconizes the man and knows he is there for her. She also goes on the run. Wendy and Lauritzia's pathes will intertwine with each other. This was a one sit read for me and I can't recommend it highly enough ,sleep, who needs it anyway ;0) .I just had to know how it would end ,and if Audrey would get her happy ever after ! I loved it! Audrey really is a great character, wonderfully warm and funny, and there are others. I particularly loved her mother – beautifully described, totally real, with moments that make you cringe. The female friendships are very well drawn too – in their positives and negatives. If I have any criticism (and it’s only a minor one) there might just have been a few too many characters: sometimes a name would crop up and I couldn’t place the relationship – friend, someone’s partner, or work colleague.
