About this deal

It is important to choose a gravel which has a composition and formation suitable for the job at hand. Different types of gravel include: Recommended products to use after using the Chipex kit include our Super Concentrate Car Shampoo and our Miracle Detailer. The final step is to use the sealant solution liquid to remove the access product. This dissolves away the extra paint that might look a little messy around the stone chip. Shake the liquid immediately before use. Apply some Sealact to the supplied lint-free cloth. You have a number of options for applying the product. The dab and smear method involved using one of the supplied brushes to put a small blob of paint right beside the stone chip and spread it across with your finger (you should be wearing the supplied glove). Don’t worry if the paint is uneven. It can be fixed in the next stage. Take a little piece of 2000 grit sandpaper to the area and gently sand it smooth using some water. When the area is smooth you’ll see that the paint is no longer shiny. Use some rubbing compound on a microfibre cloth or pad to remove most of the haziness. Finally, follow up with a finishing polish to return the paint to its original shine. It can be done by hand but it would be better to use a polishing machine if you have one as this is much more effective at permanently removing the haziness.

The 3M™ Accuspray™ atomising heads / nozzles, pressure and material flow, allows for different textured coatings to be applied, meaning you can easily match several different OEM textures to get the finish you need. The 3M™ PPS™ Pressure Cup takes air vented from the spray gun and pressurises it to ensure high viscosity material can be sprayed evenly. Pressurising the pot helps the bag to collapse and release the material in the required texture with the 3M™ Accuspray™ Pressurised HGP Spray Gun and 3M™ PPS™ Pressure Cups. Note that the sealant liquid will only with Dr ColorChip paint and not with touch-up paint that you got from a dealer. Limestone – popular in the building and landscaping industry due to its versatility. Still hard wearing but is of a softer composition than other types. Our Limestone is available in a natural buff, cream colour. Our most popular product in this area is the 20mm Cotswold Chippings

Why repair a stone chip?

All our gravels are suitable for decorative purposes for water features such as fountains and ponds. The River Washed range are particularly effective of creating a naturally but stunning look. Now you can use compound and polish to restore the shine to the area. I usually use Meguiars Ultimate Compound and Meguiars Ultimate Polish. Fixing uneven blobs of touchup paint Shake the paint Step 1 Paint bottle well, and then use the supplied Chipex paint applicator brush® to dab the paint onto the chipped areas. If the car has suffered 'road rash' (lots of small paint stone chips in one area), put the paint onto a fingertip of the glove, and smear evenly across the road rash, making sure they are all filled. Lay a weed control membrane to help keep gravel in place and suppress weeds from growing through your new gravel driveway or pathway whilst still allowing water to drain away. For driveways or pathways which will experience high traffic, choose a hard wearing gravel such as granite, basalt or flint to avoid eventual crushing down.

They will start to 'bubble' once water gets underneath the paint, which will lead to rusting and further surround damage to that area Probably the best results you can get are if you use touch up paint and a polishing machine. But be warned, its time consuming and its not easy to do a perfect job. A polishing machine will also help. Slate Gravel & Chippings– Slate gravel, supplied in a choice of two sizes; 20mm or 40mm, in a choice of colours that appear darker when wet, perfect for fishponds, pondless waterfalls and ornamental water features. If you've applied the Chipex system correctly, your stone chip repair should be a success, and you'll hardly notice where the ugly marks had been. You've also protected the area from rust and bubbling - brilliant! Note: drying time takes between 40 seconds and 5 minutes, depending on the ambient temperature and amount of paint you've applied. 4. Once the paint is dry to the touch, apply the supplied Step 2 Blending Solution to the paper cloth, and wipe across the painted areas with a light pressure - simply allowing the solution to do its job without any excess pressure. Allow a few minutes for the blending solution to dry before the next stage. 5. Take the Step 3 Finishing Polish, apply a small amount to a soft microfibre cloth and rub gently across the painted areas. Allow this to dry and haze, and then remove the haze with a clean area of the cloth. Our range of garden gravel comes in a variety of textures for excellent drainage, making it a versatile choice for your outdoor areas. Ideal for driveways and walkways, browse our range of colours from natural pea shingle to decorative white gravel. To help prevent gravel from spreading, we recommend using Ecobase porous pavers that have honeycomb shaped slots, making installation and maintenance easy. This is a thin layer of clear plastic that can be applied over your paint to protect it from stone chips. It’s not easy to apply and really needs to be applied by professionals. It doesn’t need to be applied to the entire car, just the sections that a most likely to suffer from paint chips, such as the front section of the car.
