About this deal

Benzocaine is a local anaesthetic that soothes pain and itching really fast. It’s gentle enough to use on all kinds of itchy skin rash, but as with most active ingredients you’ll want to avoid getting benzocaine on skin that you’ve damaged by scratching. In infants and children long-term treatment should be avoided especially on the face as adrenal suppression can occur. Itchy skin rashes can drive you mad. Allergic rashes, bug bites, nettle stings and extreme weather can all bring itchy despair to even the healthiest skin. Itchy skin can also be a symptom of a long-term skin condition such as eczema or dermatitis, which may flare up in response to anything from sunshine to stress, truly making life a misery. For adults, the elderly, and children over two years of age, the cream should be applied 2 to 3 times a day for up to 3 days. If your symptoms have not improved after 3 days (or if you feel worse) you should talk to a doctor or a pharmacist. When should I not use Anthisan Bite and Sting Cream? The occasional bite or sting from an insect is something most of us have experienced, especially during warmer weather. It's normal to experience some itching or pain when this happens, but occasionally a bite or sting can lead to an allergic reaction or an infection. Read on for some pointers on how to recognise this, and how to treat bites and stings generally.

Visual disturbance may be reported with systemic and topical corticosteroid use. If a patient presents with symptoms such as blurred vision or other visual disturbances, the patient should be considered for referral to an ophthalmologist for evaluation of possible causes which may include cataract, glaucoma or rare diseases such as central serous chorioretinopathy (CSCR) which have been reported after use of systemic and topical corticosteroids. Bites can be painful and may become infected easily. Occasionally, a horsefly bite may cause dizziness and breathlessness. Anthisan bite and sting cream contains the active ingredient mepyramine maleate, which is a type of medicine called an antihistamine.

How do I apply Anthisan Bite and Sting Cream?

It's a good idea to take a picture of the insect that has stung or bitten you. If this isn't possible, make a mental note of where and when you were bitten. This can help medical professionals identify what insect bit or stung you and therefore give you the most appropriate treatment, should you need it. Although generally regarded as safe, even for long-term administration in adults, there is potential for adverse effects if overused in infancy. Extreme caution is required in the dermatoses of infancy including napkin eruption. In such patients, courses of treatment should not normally exceed seven days. In infants and children particularly, care should be taken that the lowest strength of hydrocortisone cream that is clinically effective is used. The 2.5% strength is normally only necessary in the more severe cases and is better avoided in infants. Bites and stings can also become infected, which, if left untreated, can lead to further problems. Early signs of infection include:

Many people don't realise it, but all ladybirds can bite. A bite from a ladybird may be painful, but usually won't cause any further problems. Stings can cause a sharp pain. Bee stings are similar to wasp and hornet stings, but the sting is barbed, so it often gets left in the skin. Anthisan bite and sting cream is used for relieving the skin redness, swelling, itching and pain associated with insect bites or stings and nettle rash. These can often be found on household pets. Flea bites are small, red and itchy, and usually occur in clusters. There is no good evidence that topical corticosteroids are efficacious against immediate (Type 1) allergic skin reactions or short-lived weal and flare reactions from other causes. The cream is most effective when applied as soon as possible after getting the bite or sting. How to use Anthisan cream To reduce the risk of infection, avoid scratching and don't burst any blisters that form. If a young child has been bitten or stung, trim and clean their fingernails. For babies, you can buy anti-scratch cotton mittens Mepyramine maleate is a topical antihistamine that fights your body’s itchy reaction to allergens such as bug bites and certain plants. It appears in numerous itch-killing creams, sometimes alongside an anaesthetic.
