Moving on, I have to say that I didn’t like the whole side plot with Rhys’ father. It reminded me a lot of the sideplot with Ava’s father in the first book (which I also did not like). This sort of thing feels cheesy and cliché in my opinion. Can we stop having these regular guys turn out to be offsprings of important people? I seriously don’t get the obsession with this trope, I think it’s overused. And even if Rhys didn’t do anything about it, I still didn’t like the fact that it was present in the book at all. It reminded me of those barbie movies where the regular maid finds out that she’s the daughter of a king which just fixes everything cause now that she’s noble, she’s finally seen as worthy of marrying the prince that she’s loved all along. Like, what? Just writing this paragraph felt cringey to be honest. Also, I’m not even going to get into the whole Andreas thing to be honest cause it was as unbelievable and ridiculous as the father thing. Why can’t we just have the made family trope in this instance? Why didn’t the author expand on Rhys’ relationship with Christian and make them act like real brothers? I honestly think that I would have enjoyed that much more than the whole “I have a secret family” thing. Oh well… I guess to each their own right? Bibel, Sara (April 3, 2013). Alex and I had developed a new... well, I wasn’t sure if I could call it a friendship, but it was a step up from whatever we had when he arrived in London a year ago.” I enjoyed and appreciated ava and alex's story way more. i hated alex in his own book but LOVED him in this one. and her whole ex situation was so random. it was like ”what is the easiest most boring way to add some spice into my story so the male mc can be jealous” type of vibes Again I laughed a lot with this book, the steamy scenes were fantastic, and I loved how we got a happy ending for all the characters in the series. My Review: Oh boy – do I love me a forbidden bodyguard romance!! The sexual tension between these two is off the charts! I adored the development of their relationship and the slow burn as they tried to fight their feelings. It was incredibly satisfying to see them work together to make the impossible happen once they finally realized they found once in a lifetime love! I think the writing improved a ton, and the time jumps were that much easier to follow whereas i felt like it was a little difficult to know how much time had passed in the first book (one of the main reasons I gave that a 4). This one is just way better for me. ITS STEAMIER, ITS SO POSSESSIVE, the tension between them. I’m literally so into it 😂 Alex Volkov, cold and brooding, has been Josh’s best friend for eight years so he can’t deny him when he’s truly in need of his help. now meet, Ava(h): she's gone thru sm near-death experiences, but always manages to see the good in people. and beyond that and her love for photography and her phobia, i really couldn't tell you what her personality is. but I'll let her speak for herself too:in twisted love you can feel how alex is falling for ava. meanwhile, in twisted games, I literally can't feel the love between bridget and rhys. The time jumps was another element that bothered me. Whilst they were necessary to the story, I did not like the way it was handled initially. It interrupted the flow of the story for me. There was no natural progression into the time jump - it was just abrupt and the reader was just expected to go along with it. i loved her character and role in this book so much, but what broke my heart the whole time was her carrying the guilt of her past, i was legit crying whenever her past was mentioned.. LIKE ITS NOT UR FAULT I SWEARRR i thought the romance was cute in the beginning. usually, in a brother's best friend book the girl is always pining for the guy while the guy plays a martyr act and becomes a ho to "push" the girl away even though he has feelings for her. i'm glad that's not the case here and love the fact that Ava was even a little indifferent towards him at first. and honestly? the smut scenes were kinda hot.
