About this deal

Second fiction novel on our list of Best Feminist Books to Read in 2023, The Women Could Fly is such a timely book with what is currently happening to women in modern society. Another dystopian story which stills manages to hit close to reality. If you’re thinking about doing a Big Speeches workshop, Stop thinking. Book. Just did it. Feel stronger, louder, prouder. Who wouldn’t want that.” – Amy Beashel

I'm a guilty feminist. There, I said it. I believe strongly in women's rights, but seldom dare to voice this fact, for fear of being considered 'one of those types'. As such, this book was of great interest to me! Barbara Ellen, Observer A passionate, funny, fresh, thought-provoking read, as engaging as it's informative a b Sahlender, Julia (29 August 2017). "Feministisch, schwarz, queer: Podcasts abseits von Verbrechen oder Geschichte". dieStandard.at . Retrieved 15 September 2017. She makes it clear that she doesn’t care if people sometimes disagree with her views – the aim is to amplify the female voice per se. Indeed, the credo of The Guilty Feminist podcast (“A microclimate that gives more power, space and assumption of brilliance to women”) comes through loud and clear, with Frances-White including highlights from the show, and interviews with past guests. The result is a passionate, funny, fresh, thought-provoking read, as engaging as it’s informative. Towards the end, Frances-White observes: “Every day of my life, I’ll wake up and not be perfect. I’ll always do and think less-than-feminist things until the day I die.” The point being that Frances-White sees the funny side of her feminist stumbles and misfires, and she wants other women to relax a little too.Red Slicing through the fun and foibles of twenty-first-century womanhood with deft and funny prose, the book covers everything "from our noble goals to our worst hypocrisies". Existing fans of her podcast and newcomers alike will love this irreverent guide to a very modern tug of war

I went into this book not knowing what to expect. In all honesty, I saw this book in the "New release" section in Waterstones, and as soon as I saw the word "Feminist" on the front cover, I thought "Yes Sister! I just HAVE to buy this!" Actors often find themselves in interview scenarios more than any other profession. How to engage one-on-one is just as vital to their career as the ability to hold the attention of hundreds onstage. But the skill-set remains the same; active listening, a body that is comfortable in its space and surroundings, a commanding supple voice as well as clarity in thought and diction. I believe in the resistance as I believe there can be no light without shadow; or rather, no shadow unless there is also light. a b c Bromwich, Kathryn (30 October 2017). "From Dirty John to Mogul and the Guilty Feminist: best podcasts of 2017 part 2". The Guardian. ISSN 0261-3077 . Retrieved 3 November 2017. Let's be honest, most feminists feel guilty, because most feminists are women and women have been trained to feel guilty because it maintains the status quo. Guilt make us feel ashamed and when we are ashamed we feel less entitled to take action.**Kings Place, 15 January 2024: https://www.kingsplace.co.uk/whats-on/comedy/the-guilty-feminist-15-jan/Kings Place, 19 February 2024: https://www.kingsplace.co.uk/whats-on/comedy/the-guilty-feminist-19-feb/Australia 2024 dates coming soonThank you to our amazing Patreon supporters.
