And what a book that is, one of the most intense, raw YA books of 2016 so far...and now topping my list of favorite books of the year. For sure, just like the Scorch Trials movie won a Pinecone Award last year, this book's full-tilt, panic-inducing story guarantees it a win this year. Despite the brutality of the organisation and the loneliness and confusion experienced by the children imprisoned there, this isn’t a book without its joyous moments. And knowing how hard each smile was fought for made every fleeting moment of happiness that much more precious for both reader and characters alike. Besides Thomas’s daily classes and tests there were also some scenes about Thomas building friendships with the Gladers. I enjoyed reading about Thomas building the friendships and how cute and innocent they were as little children. But I don’t understand the purpose of letting them run in the hallways when they weren’t allowed? Was that also a test? I just don’t understand!? But I liked reading about Thomas, Teresa and the others as children. Five year old Thomas and Teresa, cuteeeee. A few months after "the Purge", Thomas is sent to a desert called "the Scorch" to test a Flat Trans (a teleportation device) and is introduced to Jorge and Brenda, who indirectly reveal that the Gladers will have to go through the Scorch as Phase Two of the Trials. Thomas has come to believe that a cure will never be possible, and as a result, feels that his friends are suffering unnecessarily and vows to save them.

Harriet (books2–3) is one of the leaders of GroupB. She is named after Harriet Tubman. Her subject number is B3. The Fever Code is James Dashner’s final book in The Maze Runner series and in some ways, it’s the second book of the series, if memory serves! Yup, it’s that convoluted! This is yet another prequel to the smash hit series set is a dystopian world where everyone struggles to survive the harsh environment that earth became. CONTAINS SOME MINOR SPOILERS FROM DOWN HERE. Major spoilers if you haven’t read the other books in “The Maze Runner” series!!!!

Her subject number is A1, and her title is "the betrayer". i feel like this book was the missing piece in this story but it still left me with so many questions that i need answered. I've been waiting for another prequel like this that answered my questions from the trilogy and i wasn't disappointed of course. Newt stood up straight and wiped the tears from his eyes. He appeared to feel no shame whatsoever at letting anyone see him cry. "That’s the way of things, Tommy," he said, his voice not quite steady. "The world outside’s gone to hell. Why should we expect any different in here? It’s just the way of things." He said it as if they’d been friends for years. Thomas begins to watch his friends covertly through the "Beetle blades", and sees one of the boys, George, suddenly go crazy and try to kill his friends, only to be killed by Alby. Dr. Ava Paige explains what happened to George, revealing that the Grievers have a virus similar to the Flare and places the cure for it among the Box of supplies, although the cure is at its early stages.
