Radiant Photo– Radiant Photo superior quality finished photos with perfect color rendition, delivered in record time.Your photos — simply RADIANT.The way they are meant to be.

The trio comprised the 16mm F1.4 DC DN C, but also the 30mm F1.4 DC DN C, and the 56mm F1.4 DC DN C. This is now the sixth mount that these lenses have become available in, following the initial introduction for Sony E mount and Micro Four Thirds, followed by Canon EOS M, Leica L and most recently Fujifilm X (which most of this review is based on). This is all good because as I mentioned earlier, when you factor in the cropped sensor, this lens is a 24mm equivalent, which means it’s a focal length that will probably see a lot of use, especially with the increased versatility thanks to the large f1.4 aperture. The 16mm f1.4 DC DN Contemporary is great for a variety of subjects ranging from travel, landscape to even street photography. All of these types of photography often require the photographer to walk a lot, so a lens that is easy to live with, and won’t tire someone out at the end of the day is a must. The X-mount version of the lens measures 64.8mm (2.6”) in diameter, 73.6mm (2.9”) long and weighs 275g (9.7oz). 56mm F1.4 DC DN | C With those caveats, the Fuji XF 16/1.4 is sharp at all settings, but softer in the far corners at f/1.4 and f/2 due to coma. As for weight and size, the 16mm f1.4 balances nicely with the Fuji bodies. It weighs just 14.3 oz/406 g, so it’s really not that heavy. In terms of dimensions, the 16mm f1.4 measures 2.8 x 3.6”/72.2 x 92.6 mm, and uses a 67mm filter. So, while the 16mm f1.4 is definitely larger than say Sigma’s 56mm f1.4 and 30mm f1.4, which also come in X mount, it’s still very similar to the Fujifilm XF 16mm f1.4 R WR lens in terms of size and weight.

Sharing its development concept with the SIGMA 30mm F1.4 DC DN | Contemporary, the 16mm F1.4 DC DN | Contemporary features a lens structure with 16 elements in 13 groups and includes the finest materials. This lens effectively minimizes optical aberrations and offers superb resolution at wide-open aperture and throughout the aperture range. The optical design and stepping motor deliver smooth autofocus during video shooting, while the mount features a special sealing for a dust- and splash-proof design. The new SIGMA 16mm F1.4 DC DN | Contemporary is the world’s first interchangeable lens for mirrorless Sony E-mount cameras in the APS-C format to offer a 24mm focal length (35mm equivalent) and F1.4 brightness. The lens for Micro Four Thirds offers a 32mm focal length (35mm equivalent) with the same f-number of 1.4. This is the large-diameter wide-angle lens for which mirrorless camera users have been waiting. Even when shooting wide open, there is not a lot of vignette and in many real-world situations, it would not be noticeable. What little vignette there is can be dealt with by stopping down a few stops, but exposure falloff is not a concern with this APS-C lens. Weighing in at 405g and measuring 9.23cm in length, the Sigma 16mm F1.4 DC DN C is quite a compact lens given its fast f/1.4 aperture. As seen in the photos below, it complements a camera like the new Panasonic G9 very well. I respect that point of view. For me, buying gear is all about the end result. Why does it matter whether it is used on a crop sensor, if it does the job? For instance the Fuji 16-55mm f2.8 is big and expensive. But for landscape I found it better than most kit lenses for FF cameras. Only when I bought the Sony FE 24-105mm f4, which was more expensive, did I sell it.

I found it to be essentially drama free when used with my X-T3. It was also very accurate with missed shots rarely happening. This is a wide angle lens, so even with the f1.4 aperture, there is still a larger depth of field. However, when you start shooting closer, the depth of field does thin out, and this lens was always on point. Google Pixel 7a Review – new budget phone king

The first in this SIGMA series of prime lenses for mirrorless cameras was the standard prime 30mm F1.4 DC DN | Contemporary, now followed by the wide-angle prime 16mm F1.4 DC DN | Contemporary. Going forward, SIGMA will add a telephoto lens to the series, making it a new and complete system for mirrorless camera users. Bottom line is the 16mm f1.4 DC DN Contemporary is a great lens for the Fujifilm X Series system. It’s something that I highly recommend, if you’re in the market for a fast wide angle optic. So in addition to great build and decent ergonomics, a lens hood is included. It’s petal shaped, and for the most part, fits the overall ergonomics of the lens. The lens hood is also reversible for easy storage. Coma also can make the far corners look like they have a radial blur even if you don't have points of light to excite it. The lens can focus to just under 10 inches (25 centimeters), which provides a maximum magnification ratio of 1:9.9. This is clearly not a lens well-suited for macro photography. However, this close focus distance is sufficient if you want to utilize close foreground elements in landscape images or capture close-up portraits.

A bright prime lens is the ideal way to experience the essence of the art of photography. Simply select a focal length that matches the image and enjoy complete control of the depth of field. If you’re in the market for a 24mm equivalent lens, and you want something with a large maximum aperture, the Sigma 16mm f1.4 DC DN Contemporary is a fantastic option. You have something here that is built well, has excellent autofocus, and can deliver the goods when it comes to image quality.

Sharpness remains very good across the whole image frame, right into the corners (Image credit: Matthew Richards) The X-mount version of the lens measures 72.2mm (2.8”) in diameter, 92.6mm (3.6”) long and weighs 405g (14.3oz). 30mm F1.4 DC DN | C The optical design and stepping motor deliver smooth autofocus during video shooting. The lens design fully accommodates the Fast Hybrid AF of Sony E-mount cameras for super-fast autofocus functionality. Using face recognition AF results in consistent autofocusing on faces, even as the subjects move. When you’re able to achieve it, bokeh is ultra smooth and inviting, a characteristic that seems to be a constant with Sigma lenses, at least with the ones I’ve tested. I say, “when you’re able to achieve it” because even with an f1.4 aperture, this is still a wide angle lens, and therefore, depth of field isn’t always going to be ultra thin. As you can see below, I had to get pretty close to a subject to really see a noticeable thinness to the depth of field. But if you do get close enough, the out of focus areas are buttery smooth. There’s nothing distracting, at least to me.
