Kinks are thrown in at random in the cheesiest most awkward way possible. No depth at all. It’s got it all… and not a single one is done well or organically, it’s all talked to death and the hero is already a card carrying expert as he’s sexed literally all the people in all the ways dozens of times. I would have liked some balance and maybe more focus on the actual couple rather than getting away from purity culture And then they on the beach getting sand up their butthole and other places but he slips his eggplant in and she's like OOP! And he's like OOPY-OOP! That be a hymen! But then some snippets of weird things came in. Like use of OH GOD for 106 times, not only from h but also H. Sometimes H talked the same way as h (same use of phrases like Jesus,oh god etc) Skyler Mason Aww that makes me so happy that you love the characters. I love them too, flaws and all!
Right now I'm releasing the books a year apart because that's as fast as I can write. I'm still a new author so it takes me a long time to get the story where it needs to be, and I need a lot of help from extra eyes. If my speed improves then I will release the books as soon as they come. Ideally, I'd love it if I could release one every six months. Then she bumps into one of the other guys she’d considered. The character development throughout this was amazing to read. Both separately and together. They heal each other. They were so good together.I am the target market here. I love the virgin/manwhore trope. Virginity bets are my thing. College romance is my favorite. I even identify with the Purity culture religious upbringing…. And yet… this was baaaaaaad I felt like I was missing so much context for the heroine’s behavior. We’re told that her upbringing was toxic, but we’re not given specifics. She’s still got a good relationship with her parents AND her church and pastor. That seems bizarre, for somebody who says she has “religious trauma.” She uses that phrase! Wouldn’t she want to break away from people and institutions that gave her “trauma?!” I need to know why she feels that she has “religious trauma” but she somehow DOESN’T feel that it comes from her parents or her pastor. Who was telling her to do purity culture, then, if it wasn’t them? Or, if it WAS them, then why isn’t she breaking away from them? None of this makes sense! Shame” is a beautifully written romance novel that will leave readers feeling a range of emotions. Skyler Mason has once again proven herself as a talented storyteller, delivering a heartfelt and unforgettable tale.

I looked past the manwhore/virgin combo bc the author was saying what a huge grovel it had.....there was literally no grovel. Half the book the heroine is already aware he is manipulative anyways. It just had no tension or stakes. She forgave the one infraction he did that she didn't know about almost immediately. If this was an epic grovel than romance books are dead to me 😂 it’s about some strict Christian believers that thinks that sex is only allowed in marriage, never before. So. I’m Italian grown up in a catholic culture and for Catholics sex is forbidden before marriage. Our mothers were very strict about it but thank god nature is stronger than nurture- at least in this case- and none of us girls reached the altar as a virgin. But I can understand it could have been traumatic for some girls that thought that sex was a sin and their emotions were wrong. Maybe some of us can’t have a normal and satisfying sex life because of this. The heroine is one of these girls. She wants to have a healthy sex life but she still feels shame for her reactions. So she decides to find a willing partner that would help her to get rid of her inhibitions and of her virginity. He falls first and hard. He watches her online and admires her from afar but when he actually meets her. Its as if the earth shifts. He has these feelings from nowhere that he doesn’t recognise and doesn’t know how to deal with them. Vanessa has been brought up within a strict family,were you are taught to feel shame towards sex and your body.Can you imagine how Vanessa must have felt as a young woman still trying to find herself, so she posts her thoughts and feelings on her Tiktok channel. That's maybe a little unfair to Mark. While he is over-the-top possessive and sometimes cruel to his beautiful wife, his behavior stems from a deep hurt that happened early on in their marriage.He tells her more things and she agrees to friendship sort of. He agrees he’ll “be cool” if she wants to date others (though he’s dying inside). A week passes and they hang out more. He invites her dinner with his mom and grandparents. The grandparents had disowned his mom for getting pregnant with H when she was just a teenager.
