Persistent and full of enthusiasm for the cause, they get a chance to show the reader what they can do, being on the premises during a murder and taking of a historic piece of art in a local museum. There are several suspects, a few cryptic clues, and a grumpy police investigator who doesn't want them anywhere near the case. We are first introduced to Bonnie Montgomery when she visits the local museum with her Grampa Banks. Hornville's Museum of Natural History is no ordinary museum and Bonnie is super excited to visit the museum because of its bizarre collection. She loves outings with her Grampa during the summer holidays and this one is no exception. Whilst she is there, the lights go out and a loud scream can be heard. A murder has been committed. Bonnie then changes into her alter ego - Montgomery Bonbon, the famous detective.

For any readers who LOVE whodunnits, Montgomery Bonbon is the book to read! The funniest detectives in children's fiction – I loved it so much. Put on your fake moustaches and join the murdery fun! He has done very well with this. It's funny in all the right spots (the illustrations are a highlight for me, starting with the map of the museum and going through various clues and case boards as Bonbon figures out more of the case.) Shout out to the law firm Morecombe, Morecombe and Wise! One of the many jokes that will keep parents just as interested as kids are. We’re thrilled to partner up with Walker Books again on this exciting new release, continuing our work to support museums of all sizes, all over the UK. This fun, free and easy-to-run activity will help museums to attract new and returning family visitors, and encourage them to explore and be playful at their local museum.” I’m hugely fond of a young detective, solving crimes in an adult world and often overthrowing those in authority tasked to investigate. They’re so compelling and they really have you rooting for the main character and Bonnie was definitely one you could get behind. I loved the sound of her from the get go and was fully embroiled in her detective business. From the moment I opened the book I couldn’t stop smiling. I fell in love with the writing style straight away – quirky, humorous and light hearted.

I liked the structure of this book - it reminded me of The Bolds in its layout, with the sketchy drawings and funny narrative. It also has a lot of heart, largely owing to Grandpa, but also because Bonnie is a really likeable main character - quite often young detectives tend to be irritating and entitled but Bonnie wasn't at all. Many people go their whole lives without noticing anything that is afoot, amiss, or even untoward; without ever experiencing that toe-tingling, stomach-twisting sensation that a mystery is about to unfold. Not Bonnie Montgomery - the world's best detective. Not that anyone (other than Grampa Banks) has heard of her... But they might have heard of the great Montgomery Bonbon, the well-dressed gentleman detective who (apart from the hat and moustache) looks suspiciously like a 10-year-old girl. Their newest case: solving the mystery surrounding a highly suspicious death at the Hornville Museum. Together they'll interview some dodgy witnesses, scour the scene for clues and - above all - hope no one notices that Bonnie and Montgomery are never in the same room at the same time... The partnership will enable around 60 museums across the UK to take part in a fun, free activity for families over the February half term – including the Horniman Museum & Gardens in London, Riverside Museum in Glasgow, Museum of Liverpool and the winner of the Family Friendly Museum Award 2022, the National Emergency Services Museum in Sheffield. The cheery wit and humour are just as strong here as they were in the first book - plenty of good puns - creating a charming and fun world that just happens to be filled with murder and mystery that will keep readers guessing and wanting more.Any information you provide will only be used for the reasons specified and it will not be shared with any third party without your consent, unless required by law. I adored Bonnie, or should I say The Great Detective Bonbon. The capers are great, and I enjoyed plunging into the nostalgia of watching Pirot when I was younger - the urge to don a bushy mustache, butcher an accent (I can't do any accent), and look for clues. Bonnie gets to do it all, and really well - assisting the bumbling police with the case of a missing museum piece and the murder of its guard.

The museum has worked hard to ensure that everyone is welcome and is able to access the displays and enjoy themselves when they visit us. Do you ever get the toe-tingling feeling that a mystery is about to unfold? Meet Montgomery Bonbon (aka Bonnie Montgomery) the world’s greatest ten-year-old secret super sleuth! The book is really good fun. It will keep children entertained and laughing the whole way through. Alongside the brilliant plot are some fabulous drawings too. The winners of the Diverse Book Awards 2023 have been announced, with one winner from each of the four categories announced: Picture book, Children...Walker Books will provide a free activity sheet template, bookmarks and posters to support museums to run the promotion, as well as accompanying digital assets. I think this is going to be a great series - there's a lovely hook at the end for the next one - and I look forward to reading more.
