About this deal

Due to its consistency, I found the Cicaplast Gel B5 to slide off my skin, and I don’t think that I’m getting any benefits from it. In fact, my skin feels suffocated under it, even though its consistency is much lighter compared to the Cicaplast Baume B5.

With the original La Roche Posay Cicaplast Baume going viral, I thought I should review the gel version for those it didn’t work for. I have sensitive and combination skin on my face. Because of this, I usually prefer to use lightweight serums and lotions. I typically reach for fragrance-free products specifically designed for sensitive skin, so my go-to brands are CeraVe, La Roche-Posay, and Aveeno. I also prefer a simplistic skincare routine with versatile products, so the fact that the Balm B5 could serve many different purposes was a huge draw for me. Having combination skin means I have to adjust my skincare routine regularly. Some days I might be oily; some days, I might be dry, and vice versa. I’ve used quite a few products from the brand, and while they might not necessarily be revolutionary, they get the job done. The first thing I didn’t like about it right off the bat was its consistency. It reminded me of the Supergoop Unseen Sunscreen, which I have a full review of, but the gist was that it left a very oily finish on my skin that was hard to ignore. So, either you use it as a spot treatment, or you don’t use it at all if it is causing you to break out. I also never stopped using it even after stopping tretinoin, and I even use it as a weekly mask by applying much more than I usually would and sleeping in it. Cicaplast Baume B5 also helped strengthen my skin barrier and even helped smooth out rough skin texture caused by excessive dehydration. Cicaplast B5 SPF50+: which has eight chemical filters, but La Roche Posay claims is not a sun product. Cicaplast Spray is not my favourite product, but it’s excellent for instantly soothing irritated skin.

However, one of the key ingredients missing in the Cicaplast Gel B5 is shea butter, which is present in the Cicaplast Baume B5.

If you have acne-prone skin, this is possible as emollients like Shea Butter and Dimethicone in products could clog your pores. Shea Butter and Vitamin E are the two primary ingredients removed from the Cicaplast Gel to make a less emollient product. The Cicaplast Baume B5 isn’t a regular moisturizer, therefore, if you try to rub it into the skin the way you would do a typical moisturizer, chances are that you are not going to like this product. Kind of like slugging, but instead of Vaselineor Aquaphor, I use the Cicaplast Baume B5, and my skin looks glowy and feels silky smooth when I wake up in the morning after masking with this product. Cicaplast Baume B5 softens my skin and makes it look glowy and smooth, while the Cicaplast Gel B5 only exacerbates my texture and makes my pores look enormous.

I also believe you can wear a more emollient moisturizer like the La Roche Posay Lipikar Baume AP+M over it, especially during the winter. I used to apply the Cicaplast Baume B5 before bed, 20-30 minutes after applying tretinoin, and I would feel immediate relieffrom dryness and irritation. If you are trying to decide between the two, I would definitely go with the Cicaplast Baume B5 because it’s a much more effective product, in my opinion. This will help the balm settle and absorb into the skin instead of sitting on the surface and leaving white streaks behind. Performance The Cicaplast Gel B5 doesn’t contain fragrance or other fragrant components and has no scent. ConsistencyI only used this product a couple of times and combined it with a few different products in my skincare routine to see whether I could make it work by using something else, but I stopped giving it a chance because it just wasn’t doing anything good for my skin. I typically use the Cicaplast Baume at the last step of my nighttime skincare routine, so I decided to swap it for the Cicaplast Gel to see how it compares. I’ve seen several comments from people saying the Baume clogged their pores and caused them to break out.
