About this deal

The aim of the game is for each player to get all four of their counters to home. The first player to accomplish that wins. Easy right? Most times the home bases have the same as popular Jamaican restaurants, animals, attractions, cities or Jamaican parishes. Arrrgh! Get ready to set sail on a fantastic pirate race around the island. Become the richest pirate as you battle your rivals, detour for treasure, and sail towards the finish line. What is Jamaica? An island is made of 40 hex-tiles and it’s slowly sinking into the ocean (as the tiles removed from the board). Players can either swim or use boats to travel but must beware sea serpents, whales and sharks. When a player’s final space already contains a ship, they must first Battle before paying anything for the space.

Merchants and Marauders are tons of fun because of how immersive it is. Each player has so much control over how they envision success. You can be a rich merchant or turn to a life of piracy, it’s the dealer’s choice. The art is fantastic, with beautifully painted ship pieces. What Could Be Better: Essentially a pirate-themed UNO, Piña Pirata is a fast-paced fun card game with a little more adventure. Adventure tiles are fun because they change up the game without being too confusing. It’s the perfect game for kids. What Could Be Better: Some treasures are actually special powers. These are flipped up immediately and enhance play for that player throughout the game. These can be stolen in a battle like any other treasure cards. To determine who goes first, players take turns rolling the dice, the person with the highest outcome goes first.Fluxx is a fun card game where everything is in a constant state of flux (get it?). The game’s rules and end-game conditions will be changing constantly throughout the game. The player who makes it through the race with the most money in the hold of their ship is the victor. You must race around the island while feeding your crew, fighting off opponents in battle, and seeking out buried treasure.

If a loading symbol is shown (food, gunpower or doubloons) the player must load the number of tokens shown by the action die into an empty hold. To get your piece into your home, you must roll the exact number of squares on the dice that you need to move into your home. If you roll a higher number than you need you must either move another piece on the board or pass the play to the next player and wait for your next turn.Okay, so Pirate Rumble caught my eye with its pretty artwork and I tried to find out more. It’s made by a Taiwanese company and I was just absolutely blown away with the premise of the game. A 2-player game is different and a ghost ship is the 3rd racer. The extra ship can be added in a 3 to 5 players as well. The ghost ship starts with 5 and 3 doubloons in their holds. The “Lady Beth” card is a permanent enhancement of 2 cannons in battle.

Players play cards from their hands to take actions. Through their cards they are able to move their ship and gather gold, food, or cannons to help them in the race. The fact that every round a different player gets to roll the main dice and decide which value is assigned to the morning and evening actions, and hence, gets a distinct advantage actually balances the game out quite well, despite the many random elements in the game. It manages to avoid anyone running away with the game, everyone has a fair chance of winning all the way to the end. RBG has a completely unique mechanic. It’s not just simply throwing dice. You’re actually going to be throwing dice into a box. Okay, that may not sound too new and unique, but it is. All of the dice in a given round are all gathered up and thrown into the box top. When they land, the face values will, of course, matter but also where they land is extremely important too. How far away the dice are from each other determines the ship placements in-game. Each die represents a ship and the physical distance between each die will affect its abilities. We really like the new way shortages are handled. The Shortage die is great. It also happens to be the Battle die. But with a Shortage you just look at the symbol (circle, square, or skull). Ludi is great for playing with your entire family, age is not a concern, and may heighten or develop your strategic thinking skills. If you are staying at a villa, or guesthouse they probably will have a Ludi board around. When a player reaches Port Royal, they stop there. If it’s during their morning action, they don’t take their evening action. Players then complete the current round and total up their gold points as follows:
