Weintraub, K. J. (1978). The Value of the Individual: Self and Circumstance in Autobiography. University of Chicago Press. For Indians /non Indians/Earthlings/Aliens, who have a zeal to read and are passionate about books" says the Creator of this group :)

I can tell if something is weighing on the person’s mind, how tense they are, about their personality and ancestors. People seek answers for their problems in property, marriage, children, careers, love life and health. I tell them exactly what I can see on their faces — good, bad or ugly. I don’t mince words to keep them happy. I went through a couple of the criticisms (on Goodreads and otherwise), and will try to provide counter-arguments for them : The deceiver loses when there is a correct response from the deceived.” Bipan Chandra, India’s Struggle For Independence 16. Retrieved August 15, 2022, from http://www.fredsakademiet.dk/library/autobiography%20-%20translators%20experiments.pdfSangeeta Bandyopadhyay has made an incredible name for herself as an author of outstanding Indian novels,, both in her native India and in translation thanks to Arunava Sinha and Tilted Axis, as a true force of feminism in modern literature. Though her approach is freshly surrealist, it is also entirely grounded, relatable, challenging, and punk.

Suhrud, T. (2018). Editor’s Introduction. In M. K. Gandhi (Ed.), An Autobiography, or The Story of My Experiments with Truth (pp. 1–35, M. Desai, Trans. and Introduced and annotated by T. Suhrud). Yale University Press. This is a very engaging collection of essays and lectures that Prof. Sen delivered on various occasions. To be fair, I did enjoy the essay on the two sexes (which is perhaps less noteworthy due to the sheer amount of literature on it anyway) as well as the exposition on Tagore that highlighted uncommonly-known opinions. Also, the cover is beautiful! As the genre of Indian YA continues to develop, it is bound to see a lot of trial and error. This is something that Lubaina Bandukwala, commissioning editor at Nova, Scholastic’s young adult imprint, agrees on. She says, ‘Our styles are uncompromising now, we aren’t afraid to explore darker stuff in YA novels. YA readers are few and discerning, and you cannot mess it up. But what’s encouraging is this – a few years ago, you could only name a few authors who wrote promising, edgy YA lit. Now, we have Kanika Dhillon, Sampurna Chatterjee, Jerry Pinto jumping on to this. And writers are not hesitant to write anything.’

The Ramayana and Mahabharata are very male-centric stories but now as the Indian woman was growing more emancipated, this empowerment had to be reflected in mythological fiction too. Women characters who served as mute spectators in these epics were now given the voice to air their views and narrate their versions.

The book is supposed to be a collection of essays on Indian culture, History and Identity. However there is a lot of repetition in all the essays and what stands stark clear is Dr.Sen’s limited knowledge of Indian History. All the essays revolve around one or all of the below points though the titles are different: From here we are gifted a story of two emotional arcs: one of love and empathy, and another of fear and frustration. The Story of a Goat rails against bureaucracy and government interference while also offering us a simple, charming tale of love between people and their animals in a rural community of kind people. Mr. Sen needs to be reminded that India is much more than Javali, Ashoka, Akbar, Tagore, Gandhi, and the BJP. Gandhi, M. K. (1969). Collected Works of Mahatma Gandhi (Vol. 34). The Publications Division, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India. Navajivan.

Face reading is connected to astrology closely. Both are used to predict the future; but while astrology uses planetary positions to determine a person’s life, face reading uses their facial features. Sen is critical of two interpretations of modern India - internal separatism and global isolation. India is often portrayed as a mishmash of separate religions, languages, ethnicities, and castes which are only loosely held together by the legacy of European colonialism. He rejects that claim completely and spends much of the book reviewing the history of two major Indian leaders - Ashoka and Akbar - as examples of India's pre-colonial embrace of pluralism and multiculturalism. Sen is equally critical of those who try to promote a sense of Indian national identity by rejecting any economic, social, or intellectual engagement with the West. In fact, he keenly observes that most anti-Western thought in India is, in fact, rooted in European intellectual circles. In its second, story, an Indian professor at a US university has come under fire by the press after years of treating his Indian students like family. Some have claimed he took advantage of their closeness, getting them to do free labour for him. Jai is spurned into action when a boy from school goes missing. Believing he has learned all the skills he needs from watching episodes of Police Patrol, he recruits his friends — the booksmart Pari and the streetsmart Faiz — to solve the case of the missing boy. Readers can expect a chronological effort that explains the geography, anthropology, and history of the Indian Ocean in The Ocean of Churn: How the Indian Ocean Shaped Human History. The book mentions how it became a crucial part of trade and World War II.In total, Speechify features more than 130 natural-sounding voices in over 30 different languages, many of which are available in different accents as well as both male and female voices. You can even adjust the reading speed of the voiceover. Callewaert, W. M., & Snell, R. (Eds.). (1994). According to Tradition: Hagiographical Writing in India. Harrassowitz Verlag. History of Medieval India’sfocal point is the momentous changes India has undergone from the 8th to the 18th century. It’s the land’s tale of invasion, religious evolution, and others. Despite this book’s dark history, it also excels in pointing out the positive aspects of the Mughal rule and Islam in India. After spying the yogi on a street one night, she soon comes to understand that she is being relentlessly chased by him. He is not threatening her; in fact, eventually she even starts to get used to his presence. Homi becomes convinced that he is a manifestation of fate itself. Rather than imitating their Western counterparts, Indian YA authors have instead chosen to express their ‘Indian’ voices by exploring the stories of Indian teens and their trials and tribulations. Says Basu, ‘A couple of years later [after 2000], there were a slew of really good ones: Siddhartha Sarma’s The Grasshopper’s Run, which won the first Crossword Children’s Book Award in 2009 and Samit Basu’s Terror On The Titanic, for instance.’
