About this deal

On the other hand, liquid cooling involves circulating a liquid coolant through a series of pipes and a radiator to remove heat from the CPU. Liquid coolers are more expensive than air coolers but offer superior cooling performance and are generally quieter. Additionally, liquid coolers come in all-in-one (AIO) and custom loop configurations, making AIO models easier to install. Intel® Iris® Xe Graphics only: to use the Intel® Iris® Xe brand, the system must be populated with 128-bit (dual channel) memory. Otherwise, use the Intel® UHD brand. Max Turbo Frequency refers to the maximum single-core processor frequency that can be achieved with Intel® Turbo Boost Technology. See www.intel.com/technology/turboboost/ for more information and applicability of this technology. The quiet operation of the cooler made for a more comfortable and distraction-free computing experience. But this is far more like it. As a mainstream six-core CPU, the Core i5 11600K is pointing itself directly at AMD's equivalently specced Ryzen 5 5600X, and here the benchmark battle across the board is a far more even contest.

What's more important, though, is how much of an improvement the Core i5-11600K brings over the Core i5-10600K. Again, this is mostly thanks to the way higher power consumption, but you're looking at a gigantic 24-44% jump in potential gaming performance. And the Intel Core i5-11600K doesn't exactly blow the Ryzen 5 5600X out of the water here, but it does trade blows quite effectively. Our CPU test suite includes three gaming workloads, 3DMark Time Spy, Metro Exodus at 1080p on low settings and Total War: Three Kingdoms at 1080p with low settings. Intel comes away with a win in both the 3DMark CPU score and in Metro Exodus. And even its loss in Total War: Three Kingdoms is just a 5% loss. It's also got PCIe 4.0 support too, though that is still a little disappointing from a platform and performance perspective at this early stage post-launch. The Core i5-11600 has a base TDP of 65 watts. When the Core i5-11600 is turbo boosting it can use up to 154 watts, which means that the power supply should be rated to deliver at least 154 watts to the CPU alone. Source: Windows CentralRemember to spec up a cooler unless you already have one. (Image credit: Source: Windows Central) When we reviewed the Intel Core i9-11900K, we criticized it heavily because it fell behind not only its competition, but the previous-generation Intel Core i9-10900K. The Core i5-10600K does not have that problem.

In gaming, the i5 11600K is generally capable of offering practically identical performance to the 5600X, give or take a few frames per second here and there. It's also almost up there in comparison to Intel's i9 11900K too. Suffice to say, this is a more than capable gaming processor that won't stand in the way of your graphics card's ability to render its silicon butt off. Without putting the Intel Core i5-10600K through something like Prime95, it reaches a peak power consumption of just 95.15W. The 11600K, on the other hand, goes all the way up to 180.74W – nearly twice as much power. And as a result, temperatures are much higher. Even using the exact same cooler in the exact same tests, the Intel Core i5-11600K peaks at 76°C, a huge jump over the 61°C of the 10600K. A computer case with good airflow is necessary to remove heat from the CPU and other components, such as the graphics card and power supply unit. This airflow can be achieved through various means, including the number and placement of case fans, the size and location of vents or mesh panels, and liquid coolers.

I was very impressed with the cooling capability of the Enermax Liqmax III 360, which boasts an excellent 360-watt TDP (Thermal Design Power). This article evaluates Intel's Core i5-11600 desktop CPU. We evaluated Intel's Core i5-11600 and compared it to others to determine which provides the best value as a gaming CPU. We shaped our testing methodology to focus on each CPU's attributes rather than solely on benchmarks. The processor has a 2.80 GHz base frequency and supports a 4.80 GHz single-core max turbo frequency.
