About this deal

I thought, Wow, I’d really like to do a 3D model investigating the changes! and subsequently found some blueprints online. These cover many of the main changes to the castle in that film, and they were the reason I started my project with the Azkaban castle. All we know they're located in the dungeons under the lake. I couldn't find much except for this on the wiki: Then came the details, with all their subtly variable spacing. Here’s an orthographic view from the side – a perspective-less elevation view, in other words. All the misalignment is totally intentional, and it should be pretty accurate (although I made further tweaks after this render). The language in the books is not always particularly precise, so there is a little room for flexibility in the interpretation.

But of course, the point isn’t to have the weight map look pretty. The point is to get the twigs in place: Thanks to wifewantsawizard for this very accurate map! The common rooms are located with their respective colors. As we get to the transepts, the similarities between the Hogwarts miniature and the real-world Durham Cathedral become more and more evident. There are still discrepancies, though; I’m favoring the VFX miniature’s design in those areas, especially since this part of the actual cathedral isn’t even seen in the films. Whew, sorry for the long delay…the months of sitting at my home desk have taken their toll on my arms, and I’ve had to significantly limit my computer use. This will be a shorter post as a result. I’m starting physical therapy soon…if you’re feeling particularly generous and you want to help support my recovery, my Venmo handle is @Joe-Cardello, for what it’s worth. 🙂 In this article, we will explore the Hogwarts blueprints all floors, taking a closer look at the intricacies of each level and the secrets they may hold. With detailed descriptions, we’ll break down what each floor entails, from the grand halls of the Great Hall to the mysterious depths of the dungeons. We’ll also discuss the various features of the castle and how they might have been used by its inhabitants. So, let’s get started and explore the world of Hogwarts!

Therfor it should be somewhere around number 1 on the image below, maybe 2 but that's more unlikely imo: That flat lawn texture doesn’t look horrible from a distance, but it’s pretty obvious that there’s no actual grass here when you get close like this. So I did something I’ve been meaning to do for a while: I used Blender’s relatively new geometry nodes feature to create actual blades of grass. been working on off and on for about a year, around 100+ hours so far. will upload schematic when complete The onscreen appearance and imagined reality of the castle in the films (which is achieved through a mixture of location shoots, miniatures, CGI, etc.)

If these Slytherin locations are correct, that must mean there is quite some depth going on in this castle. Just look at the space (depth wise) between the buildings above the ground and where the Slytherin common room should be. This is insane! The castle will be huge if all this underground space will be used! Of course, it’ll look better once the far side is enclosed as well; I’m not working on that courtyard side yet. Here in the Atlas of Hogwarts we’ve collected a variety of maps and other artwork which depicts the castle and the area around it. With the exception of Rowling’s own map, none of these maps can be considered canon. Some of them predate the revelation of Rowling’s own sketch map on the DVD of Prisoner of Azkaban, so they represent the best guesses of fan artists who had nothing to go on but Rowling’s amazingly descriptive prose. Others serve to illustrate the films or games. All are fascinating in their own way. We know the common room is close to the kitchens, and the kitchens are right uner the great hall. In fact, I think we saw the secret entrance to the kitchens in the Hufflepuff common room video tour:

The fifth floor of Hogwarts is home to the Ravenclaw Common Room, the Hufflepuff Common Room, and Professor Umbridge’s Office. The Ravenclaw Common Room is a cozy room filled with books and comfortable seating, while the Hufflepuff Common Room is decorated with bright colors and plenty of house pride. Professor Umbridge’s Office is her personal workspace and it’s filled with dark decorations and strange artifacts. URBN FRESH is the result of Mark's drive to cultivate a community where individuals can turn up and let loose in a safe and inclusive environment. By providing a platform for artists and musicians to showcase their talents, Mark has successfully established a unique space that fosters creativity, collaboration, and growth. The goal is to depict in 2D and/or 3D what Hogwarts and its surroundings look like in my head, factoring in all the details given in the books. We know the entrance is right around the corner and then to the left side, and natural light shines into the underground hufflepuff common room so no building can be on top of it. That must mean that the yellow dot on the 2nd image can't be that far off.

The Great Hall balcony has the wrong shape – the corners are square and it doesn’t wrap around the north side of the structure.Harry meets Dobby again in the kitchens, where he gets bombarded by house elves carrying food and nearly hugged to death. The house elves prepare feasts hours in advance, and levitate the food to the tables above. Hermione tries on more than one occasion to spread the SPEW, but to no avail. Secrets and Spells
