About this deal

The first downside is that the head is not able to zoom quite so much as a regular speedlight. This could be an issue for photographers who use the flash on camera as coverage may not quite be enough on the wide and not concentrated enough on the long end. For example, the Godox V860II zooms from 20mm to 200mm whereas the V1 only zooms from 28mm to 105mm. Update the firmware: Like cameras, the Godox products including the V1 flash needs their firmware updated. After all, it fixes the bugs and glitches. Notice the two gray-colored buttons between the “RST?” Well, these are the buttons used for resetting the Godox flash! Or, if it’s already mounted on the camera, you can still reset it! Step 2: Make sure the battery is charged

The V1 includes a dot matrix LCD like we’ve seen on their other models. However, this time the default color is a bright blue that makes the screen easy to read, even in bright daylight. As with the V860, the screen turns orange when slave mode is activated to give you an easy way to know which mode the flash is in. As with other models, the buttons on the flash are context sensitive and their current function is displayed on the screen. This makes it easy to know exactly what the buttons are going to do as you work.

All I can say is that when I see I have one bar left. I will recharge. I won't push it since sod's law means I will run out of power at THE pivotal moment. Magnetic rim You can mix and match select Godox and Flashpoint gear, but you do need to make sure they use the same communication system. Godox calls it XPro TTL and Flashpoint refers to it as R2 Pro. Rechargeable Convenience

The V1 uses a new battery, the VB26. This is a 7.2volt 2600mAh battery. This is compared to the v860ii VB18 battery which has a capacity of 2000mAh ffering a powerful 76Ws output along with a distinct design, the Godox V1 Flash is an advanced light source with features that clearly reflect the current state of the industry. Compatible with Sony ADI / P-TTL, this flexible on-camera light is distinguished by its round head, which provides soft, smooth light with gradual fall off that augments the flattering output. The head rotates 330 degrees, tilts -7 to 120?, and has a magnetic surface for lightning-fast attachment of Godox's accessory light modifiers. So as far as the advantage of having a round head in an umbrella, there's actually none. Simply use the built-in wide-angle diffuser of your rectangular flash head and the umbrella will be illuminated as evenly as with the round head. If you remember, at the start I said the main reason I rushed out to buy the V1 was because I was hopeful that Godox would fix the weak hotshoe issue that plagued the Godox v860ii for Sony. In master mode, individual groups can be turned on/off by pressing the group button repeatedly rather than having to press multiple buttons in previous flashes. The second downside is that the shape of the head means it won't fit many speedlight specific modifiers. Softboxes like SMDV's Speedbox series do not accommodate this shape, and despite the magnets being present in the head itself, MagMod's kit doesn't fit either. Hopefully this will change like some gel kits have. Magnetic Modifiers It's not as powerful as a 300Ws light like the AD300, though. Its 76Ws output won't overpower the sun, and projecting the light circularly does cut down its reach versus strobes with rectangular output. The V1 has a 92' Guide Number, versus 154' for the similarly priced Canon Speedlite 470EX-AI. The rear interface is better than previous Godox flashes. Gone are the optical modes (YAY!). Only radio master & slave now. The engineers have clearly put some thought into this part of the flash since it no longer possible to activate slave mode whilst the flash is mounted on the camera. I’ve owned the Godox V1 for close to a year now and I’ve used it at every single wedding I’ve shot. While many people have made a huge deal about the round-head, I am here to review the Godox V1 as a whole: what makes it different from a regular flash, how I use during weddings, and why it might just be the permanent on-camera flash solution you’ve been looking for. Godox V1 | Pros The V1 was clearly inspired by the Profoto A1. Profoto did an amazing job in convincing photographers that the round head is better. So I guess Godox decided to join the party!
