About this deal

I loved The Last Bear, so I was very excited to read Finding Bear, the second book in the series, and It was everything I hoped for and more. Hannah has created something so special. My children love these books as much as I do, and they will be cherished forever. Oh, I love these two and the bond they both share. It’s now even more loveable with the introduction of cute, full of fun and mischief Peanut. Hannah Gold’s writing style is so fantastic that it captivates you to such an extent you feel every breath, every wind blow, the coldness around you, the vastness of the Arctic and even down to the feel of Bears fur against your skin. The fantastic and mesmerising images drawn so beautifully by Levi just add to the magic of the whole book. The perfect sequel to The Last Bear. Finding Bear melted my heart and had me cheering, crying and of course roaring along with April. She's a powerhouse main character - one that'll inspire children for years to come' A. F. Steadman Speaking to British Vogue to announce the long-awaited Girls Aloud reunion, Cheryl opened up about Bear's reaction to finding out that she and Liam are famous. After being asked if Bear may appear on stage during the reunion tour, Cheryl insisted that she's determined for her son to have a 'normal childhood'.

After welcoming their son into the world and continuing to co-parent following their split, Cheryl and Liam have made the decision to keep Bear out of the public eye, with neither star ever sharing any images of his face on social media. This story is also full of awareness and messages for children to take away about the effects of climate change and how even doing the smallest things can help more than you would expect. With global warming and similar issues being so prominent these days, I love that Finding Bear had so much information about it and how April always found ways to make a difference, no matter how small.

I'll be waiting eagerly for the book to be published in September, when I will eagerly be grabbing myself a physical copy and having a look at the illustrations in the book, which will no doubt be stunning! Beautifully illustrated by Levi Pinfold, Finding Bear is a stunning story of survival, a heartwarming tale of love and shows us how hope is born from the smallest of beginnings.

So far Hannah, who lives in Stamford, has had her work translated into 25 languages and copies sell around the world. This is gorgeous writing for both young readers up to adults. Joyous escapism and getting the true message across to children about the plight of the polar bears who are facing starvation today. The way it’s blended just works. It’s not preachy or over the top and the storytelling is lovely. I was with April from the start, feeling her every ache and longing to meet Bear again, and I couldn't put the book down. [A] beautifully told, heartfelt story . . . so hopeful and heartwarming and left me wanting more!' A. M. The Lost Bear stole a piece of my heart, and Finding Bear has stolen another piece - Hannah has a magical way with words, of telling stories of enduring friendships and of raising awareness about what part we play in changing the world we live in. I have not read the first book about Bear by Hannah Gold, so I was slightly apprehensive about beginning with the sequel. And it did take me a couple of chapters to really become immersed in the story. But Finding Bear is an absolutely beautiful story. When April discovers that Bear is trying to save his cub, the journey becomes even more urgent as they fight to survive. The reader, while being so wrapped up in April’s emotions and the dramatic action, is also inescapably learning about the impact of climate change on this special environment and the responsibility we all have to protect it. I thoroughly enjoyed Hannah Gold's first book in this series - Finding Bear - and was more than excited when I heard there would be a sequel. As a fellow Arctic fanatic, I wanted to follow up on April's previous adventures with Bear - a polar bear she helped rescue in the first book. I absolutely loved the way that Finding Bear is an adventure story and can be accessed on that initial level, but is so multifaceted in the themes presented that the relatability for all readers is astounding. There are family dynamics as April uncovers her real emotions about Maria arriving in her Dad’s life, the sense of loneliness and the need to belong arises out of April’s difference from her fellow pupils, and the realisation of what creates abiding and enduring love at all levels permeates the entire story, especially through April’s relationship with Bear.

Former Girls Aloud singer Cheryl has shared her son Bear's adorable reaction to discovering that she and his dad, Liam Payne, are famous.

Descriptions in this fast paced plot are simply wonderful, conveying the Arctic temperature and inhospitable, threatening environment with razor sharp accuracy so that any reader can experience the cold and dark alongside April. Add in the truly amazing illustrations by Levi Pinfold and Finding Bear is a very special book indeed.

I always wanted to be an author,” she said. I grew up in Hertfordshire and my big dream was to be a children’s author but I spent quite a few years working in different jobs before it came true.” Hannah Gold's third children's book, Finding Bear, follows The Last Bear and The Lost Whale Beautifully illustrated by Levi Pinfold, Finding Bear is a stunning story of survival and hope that reminds us how change is made from the smallest beginnings, and asks how far we are prepared to go to protect what we love.

About Hannah Gold

When Hannah Gold’s The Last Bear was published, I think it took everyone by surprise with its phenomenal readership. Everyone wanted a copy and now they can all have the sequel which is an equally phenomenal and beautiful story. In case you didn’t read The Last Bear, I suggest you do, here is a brief overview – Bear Island is the setting and despite its name it no longer has any bears, at least no polar bears. That is what April has been told by her father whose scientific research is taking him to this remote Arctic location for six months. But then April meets a polar bear, staving, hungry and a long way from home. April and the bear set out on the most important journey of her life and the story is breath-taking. As for Levi's illustrations - well they bring the beauty of the story to your eyes. I couldn't imagine this book without them. I was on the edge of my seat! Full of action and danger, this book had me tense and hopeful that everything was going to turn out all right. April and her Dad make a fantastic team and although they have their differences, it was nice to see how they interact with each other as the book progresses. Some big changes have happened in April's life and her character progression as she learned to deal with and accept these changes was lovely to see. A brilliant, beautiful sequel that resonates with emotional truth. April and Bear's second adventure asks profound questions about our impact on the environment while keeping readers on the edge of their seats. If ever there was a book to spark change, this is it' Aisling Fowler
