I was on the fence in the beginning about the plot. I found myself wondering where this was going, and willing the story to move forward, but Sylvia Day was weaving a tale that was very unexpected; a delightful intriguing surprise! My initial annoyance at the story’s pace, the character’s inablitly to commit, namely Gideon, left me grinning in after thought. How it was revealed; painstakingly slow… made for some intense heart-pounding moments. I knew something was coming, but I was never quite sure what it was. The author has the reader suffering along with the characters…and she does a damn good job of it! I feel compelled to read the last half of the book again, to appreciate the way Sylvia Day manipulted the characters and played with the reader’s mind. I can't tell you how absolutely happy the ending made me!!!! Seriously, I felt like I could fly!! *happy dance* Gideon took a deep breath. His hand reached up to his chest and rubbed at the area over his heart as if it hurt him. I am obsessed with you, angel. Addicted to you. You're everything i've ever wanted or needed, everything i've dreamed of. You're everything. I live and breathe you. For you.”

My tongue darted out to wet dry lips and he growled, sending a shiver through me. “Well… I’m happy about it.” I'm a bit surprised that some feel cheated and ripped off that this is NOT the last in the Eva and Gideon saga, but I for one am thrilled that there are at least 2 more books to follow. I love the subplots, and I want to know more about their crazy parents, families and exes, the female cop, Cary, Megumi and the 2 "drivers" who are more special ops bodyguards extraordinaire than chauffeurs. If Ms. Day had limited this to just 3 books, I think most of us would have lamented that it was all over and would have wanted her to do at least a couple of spin-off series with Gideon and Eva cameos and updates. My only gripe is that I didn't catch the story a few years from now so I could just listen to them all at one time, but that's pretty much always the way it goes. I can't wait to see what she spins for the next books, but I'm kind of hoping for a Magdalena or Megumi/Brett hookup and lots of comeuppance for G's mom, the pediatrician, half-brother and anyone else who needs it. He caught me to him, his arms banded tight around me. His face pressed into my throat. "Where do we go from here?"I wanted desperately to talk about it, to get help working it out in my head, but I’d never be able to tell anyone. Even our therapist could be ethically and legally bound to break our confidence.

First you can all rest easy because there is NO RELATIONSHIP CLIFFHANGER!!! In fact, of all the three books so far, I'd say this one had the most resolved ending of all. It ended at a point where Gideon and Eva were together and happy. Yes, there were still many unanswered questions for future books (mostly regarding external plot lines and milestones that Gideon and Eva still have to cross) but there was no relationship cliffhanger!

Gideon and Eva made some progress in this novel. Granted, it didn't happen until the last 30% or so of this book, but I'm glad there was some improvement, individually and together. There is still a whole lot for them to work through and I'm very curious to see how this series concludes. Don’t take that tone with me, Gideon. I’m tired of being an open book for you while you hoard all your secrets.” I shed my clothes across the bathroom floor en route to the shower. While I lathered, it was impossible not to think of the times I’d showered with Gideon, occasions when our lust for one another had fueled starkly erotic encounters. I missed him so much. I needed his touch, his desire, his love. My craving for those things was a gnawing hunger, making me restless and edgy. I had no idea how I was supposed to fall asleep when I didn’t know when I’d get a chance to talk to Gideon again. There was so much that had to be said. I loved that they had this intensely passionate, tumultuous relationship but at the core of it all was always their strong, unwavering love for each other. Everything else was just details. Don’t we all?” What had she seen of Gideon? What had he revealed in the course of their… association? If they’d had one.
