Honestly, not really, because they were made in such a different time and from different elements. This is the first time the film has been transferred from the original camera negative; that is to say, the exact film that ran through the camera on the day of the shoot, and not a downstream copy of it. The previous BD releases will have been made using some type of hi-def video telecine, probably from an interpositive film element, and were subjected to the kind of grain reduction processing that was seen as a good idea at the time – in other words, quite a different process to scanning the original negative to 4K data and keeping it natural with all of the detail intact. Bass primarily stems from the music, providing a heavy, room-shaking drop from jump scares. Gunshots do drive into the low-end. Zombies slamming into windows elicit a jolt too. Propane tanks going up in flames give off a sustained rumble that’s spectacular. Extras music fits the tone of the film perfectly and helps to provide the perfect accompaniment to the apocalyptic material. Of course, and most obviously, this is represented by the swarm of zombies slowly amassing in the parking lot of the shopping mall, which also builds conjointly with Romero gradually intensifying the sense of dread and urgency before suddenly erupting into complete anarchy. However, I'm more fascinated by the four living survivors played by Ken Foree, Gaylen Ross, David Emge and Scott Reiniger. As the symbolic pillars of a secure, well-balanced democratic society, the pair of journalists and law officers essentially endure the impending apocalypse the only way they know — by finding physical comfort in material possessions, ultimately making them no different than the mindless dead swarming outside desiring to do the same. Dawn of the Dead circumvents a lot of modest expectations circa the early 2000s and made one of the best horror films of the

adults and are given a more well-rounded storyline. These characters have human flaws and dimensions – and the audience can relate toMore than the greatness capitalism’s supply chain offers, masculine toughness supersedes all. The calm presented as characters settle in, treating the undead masses outside as a shooting gallery, playing chess, and having sex, looks rather absurd. No panic, no fear. They have guns, ammo, and food – the American dream. Sarah to her part and to bringing her character to life (without zombies getting in her life's way – joke intended). Jake Weber is also Super 8 Mall Footage - By zombie extra Ralph Langer with option of archive commentary by Robert Langer and new commentary by Ralph Langer. Dawn of the Dead was originally finished on a 2K DI and that’s been the source for past home video releases, but for this outing, a new 4K scan of the negative was issued for this Dolby Vision HDR 4K UHD release. Per the reported specs, the unrated footage has been upscaled from the 2K DI, not sure of the wherewithal for that, but without already knowing the theatrical cut so well, with HDR I could barely tell the difference for those brief scene extensions and small sequences. is top-notch and there is a lot to appreciate about the amount of detail that went in to the design. The majority of the film takes place in a mall and

These adult elements aren't always given adequate attention in the horror genre and Dawn of the Dead does a good job of Killing Time at the Mall: The Special Effects of Dawn of the Dead – An interview with Special Effects Makeup Artists David Anderson and Heather Langenkamp Anderson. A relatively foul-mouthed David Anderson talks of his initial attraction to the project (he received a call from Universal that said “We’re re-making Dawn of the Dead, mess this up and we’ll cut off your leg.”) and his preparation for the zombies, their look and some of the special effects contained within. The color… so much color. Saturation is set to hyper mode, beginning with intense, glowing flesh tones right on the precipice of bleeding. Turns out, every hue is like that. Blues explode, and red blood looks absurdly overcranked. Dawn of the Dead is very much of the early color grading era, made to stand out on SDTVs. Audio Commentary – This is a bit difficult to find as it’s under the “Setup” menu option, but it is the same one that appeared on previous versions. Still, it’s nice to have it included and Snyder and Newman both share their passion for the film and indulge us with plenty of details about the shoot.

Importantly, the new 4K scan (the few minutes of extra footage finished at 2K) shows exceptional definition. Sharpness stays a consistent peak, with resulting detail impressive in their texture. Whether it’s makeup or just a general closeup, texture results in full. It’s fantastic, a slight exception for the lower resolution early ’00s digital compositing aside. Scream’s encode handles a grain structure without issue. George A. Romero's classic low budget horror and sequel to 'Night of the Living Dead' where the dead now roam the entire American continent, feeding off the flesh of the living. TV reporter Francine (Gaylen Ross), her boyfriend Stephen (David Emge) and two SWAT team cops seek refuge in a deserted shopping mall. However, despite their best efforts their temporary haven is put in jeopardy when a gang of marauding bikers tear down the barricades thus allowing the undead to infiltrate the shopping mall.
