About this deal

In the end, Tully makes the difficult decision to take a break from her career and focus on herself and her relationships. She reconnects with Johnny, Kate’s husband, and they begin to develop feelings for each other. Marah, who had been struggling with drug addiction, goes to rehab and begins to turn her life around, while Lucas, Kate, and Johnny’s son, begin to open up and deal with his grief.

Touching, powerful, and highly emotional are the words I would use to describe this. Oh, and yes...you will still want your Kleenex handy while reading it. Tenía mucho miedo de coger este libro después de una primera parte muy bien cerrada, pero Kristin lo ha vuelto hacer, ha vuelto a meterme en su historia, hacer que adore a los personajes, y hacerme llorar con ellos. Throughout the novel, the characters deal with themes of grief, addiction, and forgiveness. They must confront their past mistakes and learn to forgive each other and themselves. In the end, they find a way to come together and heal as a family, showing the power of love and forgiveness in the face of tragedy. The story begins four years after Kate's death from breast cancer. Told primarily from Tully's POV, we learn that in the years following her best friend's death, Tully has been in a downward spiral of drugs and alcohol. Johnny, Kate's husband has all but abandoned Tully, and Kate's daughter, Marah has just sold the story of Tully's downward spiral to the tabloids. Then Tully crashes her car and hovers near death on a coma, where she meets Kate, sort of.I encourage readers to peruse FIREFLY LANE before beginning this book, although FLY AWAY is also a stand alone novel. I started out really liking this book. I especially liked all the descriptions the author used to put me in the place where the character was. Descriptions aren't usually a big selling point with me, so I know these ones were top shelf if I was noticing and loving them.

Tully Hart has always been larger than life, a woman fueled by big dreams and driven by memories of a painful past. She thinks she can overcome anything until her best friend, Kate Ryan, dies. Tully tries to fulfill her deathbed promise to Kate---to be there for Kate's children---but Tully knows nothing about family or motherhood or taking care of people. Just Fly Away is about a young teen girl names Lucy who finds out that her father has an eight year old son with another woman that both her father and her mother kept a secret. At first it angers Lucy that her father had an affair, had a son and kept it a secret from her, but then it angers her more that her mother knew about it and still stayed with her father. Some factors in selective mutism are anxiety by being overwhelmed in an unfamiliar situation or trouble processing sensory information. We see this at our school quite a bit and it is usually temporary. Teddy suffers from the same issues but will "talk," so-to-speak with Lucy. He says her name, "See" and sings to her a song every night using "la" or "ba." When Lucy tells the adults he can speak, he refuses to show them. At first annoyed, Lucy later likes their secret. It is like their secret language and makes her feel special. She obviously adores Teddy and looks out for him, perhaps more than the average sibling. When Teddy does start to talk he turns the tables on Lucy and forces her to sing. The message of facing your fears and having the courage to be bad at something makes for good discussions. For this reason alone, fans of the show will want to tune in to see how this fallout will shake itself out. But unlike much the first season, the reason Tully and Kate are feuding differs from the Firefly Lane book series by Kristin Hannah. Despite not following the books to an exact tee, the books will still help provide a bit more context. First I want to thank Goodreads for selecting me as a winner of an advance reader's copy of Fly Away. Winning and getting to read a Kristin Hannah book before it has been released really made my year!Phew, well a few things I did like. Still love the characters. All of them! Enjoyed watching Mara grow up of course. I mean we were there when she was born. Really liked Clouds story which made everything come into perspective and made me hate her so much less. Still love the way the story spans over 40 years and how we got to see all the events from different point of views. Really well rounded. Fly Away” by Kristin Hannah is a sequel to the novel “Firefly Lane” and continues the story of the lifelong friendship between Kate Mularkey and Tully Hart. In this novel, Kate has passed away, leaving behind her husband Johnny and their two children, Marah and Lucas. OVERALL: It's readable and interesting, but needed a few more developed characters for me to really like it. Lucy got on my last nerve and she was really the only person in this book, so for me it wasn't really a book I'd recommend. This sequel to FIREFLY LANE exceeds the original story of TullyandKate. I read the book in one sitting, accidentally. I wanted to stretch my reading time out for days, but couldn't do it.

Marah, Kate’s daughter, goes to rehab and begins to turn her life around. She and Tully finally have an honest conversation about their past and make peace with each other. Lucas, Kate’s son, also starts to come to terms with his grief and begins to open up to his family. An equally heartbreaking book as the first novel, you would expect it to be depressing as anything. Strangely, it’s actually a story of hope.

Lucy is traveling in an old Volkswagon van to her aunt's farm with her parents, two-year-old brother, and six-year-old sister to North Dakota. Her dad loves cows and opera while her mother loves musician Langhorne Slim. Her sister can sing in a "high perfect voice" and her selective mute brother can sing perfectly in tune. It's their secret. No one knows that he can hum in tune. They think he's mute. "Teddy has music but no words." She explains. "I have words but no music. We are a strange pair." When Teddy sees a cow for the first time he speaks to the amazement of his family. As the trip continues, he starts to say more aloud. Even when she knows he isn’t good for her, Marah is drawn to the young man Paxton because of how well he can relate to her. She sees him almost as a kindred spirit.
