About this deal

Unfortunately, the vacuum struggles more with fine dust – particularly on smooth surfaces. It’s not terrible for this, but it’s also not the best we’ve reviewed. Additionally, the Shark would benefit from better edge cleaning. The powerful suction of the Shark AZ950UKT leads to decent (but not outstanding) cleaning performance. But before we get to the performance on various surfaces, let’s discuss the surface modes. It really does help you to see any dust or dirt that has been left behind, especially in dark places like under the sofa. In addition to this, there is also onboard storage for any accessories that you want to take along with you when you clean. Our Weight Test Results Secondly, there is a colour difference. The UK is a shade of purple with silver touches, and the UKT is rose gold for a more sophisticated look. Below it sits a slider switch, which lets you change the cleaner’s mode: Hard Floor, Carpet and Deep Pile. This slider adjusts an air valve to reduce power as you move from hard floor up to deep-pile carpet.

I measured the Shark AZ950UKT at a maximum of 77.9dB, which is on-par with the competition: you certainly know that the cleaner’s on, but it’s not loud to the point where you’re desperate to power it off. Should I buy the Shark AZ950UKT But does bigger mean better with this upright vacuum cleaner? Or is the standard size the more convenient option? Find out everything you need to know in our Shark AZ950UKT review. Overview of the Shark AZ950UKT’s Features So, what exactly is the difference between theAZ950UK and AZ950UKT? The nice thing about Shark vacuums cleaners is that I can say there isn’t much difference at all. Again, these vacuum cleaners have very similar features, with the main differences coming down to the AZ950UKT being an XL model. The AZ950UK has every bit of tech Shark has to offer on a corded upright vacuum. If you live in a large home with lots of high traffic then this is the model for you. If you live in a regular home then the NZ801UK/T or the AZ910UK/T would be the better options here,There are also LED headlights on the front of the floorhead to highlight dust and debris in dark corners. We always like vacuums to include headlights, as it does make it easier to see dirt that might otherwise be missed. This is another Shark with an 8m cord, and it is something I do find mildly disappointing. I would love to see a 10m cord for more convenience, but at least it isn’t as short as 5m. There are two brushes that make up the DuoClean technology: a soft roller to draw in fine dust on hard floors and a stiff bristle brush that agitates fibres and loosens the pile on carpets. The combination allows you to move seamlessly between hard floors and carpets, although you’ll need to adjust the mode using the handle buttons. While raw suction performance is a good measure of performance, real-life results show how good a vacuum cleaner really is. To this end, I put the cleaner through my regular set of tests. First, I started with my carpet test, sprinkling a teaspoon of flour onto my test carpet. With the bin removed, you can see one of the washable filters, with a second HEPA filter located at the front of the vacuum. This, too, is easy to remove and clean.

Lift-Away mode also makes it easier to get the tools where you want them. You can use accessories on the end of the wand, which provides far greater reach: I could easily clean around the ceiling in this mode. You can also remove the wand entirely, which is ideal for close-up jobs. The hose is 1.65m long, which is better than the AZ910UKT although still not as good as the NV601UKT which had a 2.15m hose. However, the hose provided gives a great cleaning radius and is also very stretchy which helps with the stairs. Aside from the new guards, the actual brush remains the same. The nylon bristles work hard to pull up hair and embedded dirt, and they also have easy access if you need to maintain them. This rubber-finned tool is great for cleaning carpeted stairs or upholstery. Whether you have pets or not, a rotating brush bar makes for more effective cleaning. We wish it was motorised though, as the air-powered design is noisier and less effective than some of the best pet tools on the market.

The difference in a machine that does not have full sealing is that the air is pushed through any gap in the machine – leaving the air dirty. Our Filtration Test Results

Yes, it is a significant weight increase when compared to models like the NV601UKT, but it is worth it for the improved features. Tech Features What did you think of our Shark AZ950UK and AZ950UKT review? Do you agree with our thoughts on the vacuum, or are there others that you think are better suited to the task? We love hearing from you, so make sure you leave us a message in the comments below. Unbox the Shark AZ950UKT and the first thing that you’ll notice is that this is one big vacuum cleaner (1175 x 305 x 280mm), weighing in at 7.5kg. Don’t let any of this put you off, as there are plenty of advantages to the size of this vacuum cleaner, plus it has some special features that make it feel and handle like a much smaller unit.

Product Details

If you’ve got a big house and need plenty of vacuuming capability, the Shark AZ950UKT could well be the model for you. This over-sized vacuum cleaner makes short work of dirt, with its large floor head meaning that you can spend less time doing one area. The main filter comes in the form of a large sponge that can be popped out of the machine and washed by hand. It is incredibly absorbent, which is good for removing dust and other particles from around your home. It’s also worth noting that the trade-off for having a wider floorhead is that it’s more difficult to manoeuvre around furniture. This is less of an issue in big rooms though. Filtration The bin itself detaches from the vacuum’s main body, flipping open at both ends for easy emptying and cleaning. You also get the new anti-hair wrap technology with this model, which is something I have already detailed in the carpet cleaning section of this review. It’s clever technology because while you have the guards protecting the brush from hair getting tangled, the bristles are still able to work effectively to clean carpets and get them looking incredible.
