It did unfortunately feel like 3/4 of a book, as it tried to juggle too much, and ended up leaving too many bits of the story unfinished to carry into a sequel, which left me feeling incomplete. They're filled with so much love, tenderness, and care for one another and are actively communicating through conflicts and roadblocks to be better partners for each other.

Parts of the worldbuilding were intriguing, particularly the magic systems, but a lot of the politics and technology felt somewhat flimsy and implausibly convenient. Worn wooden floors, plants on every table, firelight drifting between the rafters - all complemented by love and good company. They’re solid in their bond and speak casually about marriage in a comfortable dynamic filled with established history and ease. speaking of relationships, i was also disappointed in the fact that kianthe and reyna had a preexisting relationship. The author does a great job balancing the cozy fantasy elements with more tense and darker moments, and I can’t wait to see more of it.is sort of brushed off with a "well, we'll look more into that later," not even afforded a proper cliff-hanger.
