Manchester’s Higher Ground has just scooped yet another accolade, and has been awarded a Bib Gourmand by Michelin. Katsu Curry is one of my favourite Japanese foods, and pizza is my favourite take-away, so this sounded like it was made for me. From the highly sought-after Restaurant of the Year award, to Chef of the Year and the new Takeaway of the Year award, more than 350 people piled into New Century for the celebrations. A third joked: “Stonerbaked Easer pizza would be a more appropriate name for this late night mess of an idea. Nuttela-topped pizzas are extremely common in Italy and often come topped with additional extras like sliced banana or strawberries, but Morrisons has taken things one step further in what can only be described as a truly British fashion. Loaded with chocolate buttons and Cadbury’s mini eggs, chunks of chocolate chip cookie dough and cream cheese, the supermarket’s sickly sweet 10-inch dessert pizza special is back by popular demand.

It just tasted of nothing and vas very dry, chicken non existent, peppers dried out with a red stain. Shining a light on the city’s incredible independent restaurants, bars, cafes and everything in between is what the awards are all about and we’ve loved bringing everyone together to celebrate. The Michelin Guide’s entry for Higher Ground reads: “In the heart of the city, not far from Piccadilly Gardens, three friends are making serious waves in the Manchester food scene. Higher Ground becomes only the third Greater Manchester restaurant to receive a Bib Gourmand, joining El Gato Negro and The Sparrows. it was spicy ,like red chilli peppers plus seeds a over spicy and because the seeds were mixed in it made it hard to remove them. Very active - You exercise almost every day of the week doing high intensity training such as running, spinning, team or competitive sports.

So the other part is the fact that I really liked the pizza, there was nice spice from the chilli pieces making it hotter in places, plenty of chicken, spinach and a decent base. The restaurant started life as a pop-up at Kampus but has since put down roots with floor-to-ceiling glass windows on two sides, and a whole wine room where diners can pick out a bottle to take home. Light - Have a job that involves long periods of sitting (office-based / driving) or are home-based and sitting for much of the day.One of the new jewels in the city’s culinary crown is Higher Ground, a great value restaurant run by a trio of friends who provide friendly service alongside a selection of full-flavoured small plates. A fourth said: “If I worked in Morrison and saw this, I’d retire on the spot,” whilst a fifth commented: “And truly the Lord said ‘This is an anathema unto God.

With chatty service, a lively buzz and ingredient-led cooking bursting with bold flavours, they’re providing a brilliant all-round package for the city.There’s a brilliant wine list too, showcasing small producers and low-intervention choices, of which you can find more at their wine bar, Flawd, in Ancoats. Whilst fans of Manchester Italian restaurants like Ciaooo and Cibo may be no strangers to the idea of a chocolate-topped pizza, for most the idea of loading up a pizza base with sweet stuff seems bizarre to say the least. The Best Cajun-style chicken and sweet pepper pizza is woodfired in Italy using a 24-hour rested, stonebaked base for superior flavour and texture. Enriched with olive oil, hand stretched and stone baked for an exceptionally crisp crust and authentic oven-fired taste. The Manchester Food and Drink Festival Awards have named the best restaurants, bars, individuals and more in our city, in a glittering ceremony at New Century.
