About this deal

The intentional look has significantly affected primaries, displaying a bit of boldness in the greens, but reds and blues are fairly dark and drab.

Height (Dolby Atmos): The Dolby Atmos element of this surround track really “elevates” your viewing experience, no pun intended, to the next level with many complements such as Zimmer’s incredible score bleeding in and shooting upwards, aerial battles on Krypton, planes flying by, doors on alien ship and Superman’s many flights just to name a select few.

Superman 75th Anniversary Animated Short (HD, 2:03) – This two-minute quickie kind of has it all including animated takes of Christopher Reeves and Henry Cavill as well as various incarnations of the Superman character as he appeared in the comic pages.

DISCLAIMER: Let the record show that the more I watch Man of Steel the more it weighs favorably on me. Man of Steel' is the sort of Superman movie I've always wanted to see explored on film: for all his perfections, he struggles with the weight and responsibility of being the savior of humanity and the burden attached to that abstract idea.Wrapping the character in even the fondest papering of nostalgia only serves to make him seem out of date. For all intents and purposes, the transfer does not appear to have been color graded to take advantage of the wider color gamut since the palette doesn't seem all that much different than the Blu-ray. From there, the narrative is told mostly through flashback, revealing small glimpses of a person desiring for acceptance from a harshly judgmental society but denied so often that it grows into a weight of sad memories. Dialogue Reproduction: The dialogue is loud, clear and intelligible throughout the presentation and I never had a problem understanding any spoken word, that is when Costner speaks clearly. When questioning her pursuit, Laurence Fishburne as Perry White, editor of "The Daily Planet," puts it very succinctly and frankly, a question that in turn reveals a major flaw within us as a supposedly open-minded civilization.

The theaters did not get my hard earned money or repeat business on this one like I thought they would. You gotta love hearing about two-thirds of the crew throwing up in the crab fishing scenes filmed on a real boat with authentic crashing waves. Moving, hovering and flying from the front to back and from one side of the room to the other, the object-based track creates an immersive 360° dome-like soundfield with exhilarating realism. Similarly, on earth, the key set-pieces offer the same kind of punchy thrills, as oil rigs explode and tornadoes tear through the town, making you wonder whether your own home is going to get ripped from its roots in the process.Try watching this film for what it is, rather than what it’s not, and you may see something truly special. While I’m sure it’s much to everyone’s surprise that there’s no reference at all to William’s iconic “Superman March,” that’s not necessary a bad thing…it’s a good thing. The regrettable effects of that are some negligible hints of aliasing along the sharpest edges of buildings, thin structures and a top computer monitors. At startup, the disc goes straight to the main menu with full-motion clips and music playing in the background.

And I believe it had much to do with the weak characters and their respective lack of robust development and horrible editing trying to achieve what Batman Begins did, but utterly failing in that respect. Now as I mentioned before, Man of Steel is a complete reboot of the Superman film series, which puts a slightly new take on the character’s origin story.
