However, one could easily recognize that these switches were not designed, manufactured, and released all within the span of just a few short months, thus firmly placing the blame on 2021 for all of these crazy ideas. There is a problem however, some of the switches are inconsistent and feel less tactile than the others. I was quite afraid going from the BOX Navy to the BOX Jade thinking it wouldn’t be as sharply tactile, but that was all for nought as the Jades feature just as sharp of a tactile event as the BOX Navy.Historical implications aside, I hope this mechanism and creativity continue to see further improvements and iterations even if not the greatest now. And because of this I would personally recommend a harder (or less universal) plate when building with these switches. The first, and much more subtle point which I want to note is that the stem central pole region appears to be not only significantly thicker in diameter than other MX style switches, but much more flat and shorter as well. Additionally make sure your User-Agent is not empty and is something unique and descriptive and try again.
Great for those who are a bit messier at the keys, Kaihua’s Kailh Box switches are IP56 rated to keep dust and moisture out. The slider rails are not centered on the B side of the stem, making measurements like D impossible to functionally use for calculations. I am definitely keeping these on my Kona as my daily driver (and if you all like this post maybe I'll make another about my long term impression of the switch after I've had more time with it). This board is designed by u/AuthenticDanger and was really fun to build and has tons of layout options which I was keen on at the time. In this video, Mike happily shared that the Box Mute Jades had not only completed production but were being shipped to Novelkeys via air-mail, with an expected arrival time sometime in December.The Kailh Box Jades were my second major mechanical keyswitch, the first being the Outemu Blue in my previous E-Element Z-88 mechanical keyboard. Reminds me more of MX Clear but more tactile (I sold my MX Clear board so I can’t compare the two right now). More often than not, they continue to produce their content in spite of this hatred which they receive from a small but loud minority around them even when their tolerance for the slights against them might be completely gone. The first and most obvious difference is the LED slot, which is entirely covered by a rather thick, flat plane of nylon rather than the tiered or open style LED slots of many other modern switches.
It’s a great switch for those looking for a heavier BOX White, but want something lighter than a BOX Navy.If you would like to learn more about these switches, I’ve already completed reviews or scorecards for some of them. Combined with both Cherry MX form and Box design around the the cross stem, Kailh Box switches provide an easy transition to fit for any MX style keycaps that you want to customize and it will greatly reduces the wobbly and enhance your typing experience. As for the ‘scratchiness’ of the tactile bump, I have previously referred to this phenomenon as ‘singular’ versus ‘grainy’ feeling tactile bumps, in which this would definitely fall under the grainer side. Next to this is what appears to be a thickened bottoming out pad which sits directly underneath that of the activating lever in the Box mechanism of the bottom housing. In fact, over the past few months now I’ve been dealing with a concerted series of harassment events from an individual or small group of people attempting to get me to alter my content “or else.
