Hetty’s and Diamond’s adventures are a marvellous tale of theatrical life based on the stage stars of early days. This final stretch of Hetty's story (which seemed to end just a wee bit too suddenly, I might add), entrancingly narrated in my beloved simple-yet-appropriately-inviting style of Jacqueline Wilson's, manages to combine the new and exciting with the old and comfortingly familiar so well, among other things, by reintroducing one of my old favourites from all the way back in book 2, in a whole new light and yet so obviously still the same old dear at the core.

She moved in with Mr Marvel (the monkey who we met Emerald Start (Book 3) and little Mavis, his baby monkey. Hetty and Diamond quickly become the Little Stars of Mrs Ruby’s show, alongside many colourful acts – including an old friend from Hetty’s past, Flirty Bertie.

Starring a cast of wonderful characters, both old favourites and new, this is the fifth fabulous Hetty Feather story. When a Christmas tableau is discussed, Hetty wishes to be an angel, but instead Monica and Gideon were chosen, though Hetty thinks that Gideon suits the roll.After a long train ride Hetty arrives at the southern coast and checks into an inn as 'Emerald Star'. Even though I've read this before the last three books felt new to me as I couldn't remember a thing that happened - even when I was reading it so it felt like I was reading it for the first time.
