About this deal

While the killing spree may have been unrealistic and far-fetched, this kept the story light and entertaining, which I enjoyed. Or maybe you didn’t like sausage rolls to begin with and can tolerate this “vegan” beating you over the head about how the mincer at the local pork processing plant is the best way to turn your latest victim into upscale pigs in blankets.

You should realise by now that I’m a fan of dark humour, so clearly when this kept on appearing on my Facebook, I was intrigued. After Kitty Collins accidentally kills a man stalking her after leaving a nightclub she realises she likes the feeling of wreaking vengeance on men for all the females out there. This helps to balance out the macabre and the reader can follow Kitty to see whether she is able to get herself out of the sticky situations that she finds herself in or whether it’ll all end up in the mincer like some of her victims! Yes, I get that the author was probably trying to empathize Kitty's priorities there, but I still found it dumb. I was expecting this to be full-on cosy crime humour, but this has a close-to-home, hard-hitting angle to the murdery storyline. Through these rules and guided by her sense of justice, Kitty Collins starts finding male sexual predators that have been recently released from jail or were let off by the justice system.

Overall, a tongue-in-cheek revenge comedy-drama that was definitely over-the-top and so very entertaining. When something like this is added to the storyline, we get a gripping tale, the types of which are one of my favourites. I also found myself genuinely surprised by some of the reveals and twists that came along with this subplot, as it goes from general ‘oh geeze, stalkers are always a problem’ to ‘oh boy, the stalker knows what she’s up to!Though even a half-decent police officer could have found a common denomination as she was present at all events related to the crime. At least, that’s how Kitty justifies her new lifestyle change, and as long as she’s getting away with it, she’s more than happy to rid the world of scumbags. She's a killer who uses Tinder to hunt men whom she believes deserve to die and based on what we see of those men, it's often hard to disagree with her.

Although grateful for the freedom that her thousands of followers give her to enjoy the luxurious lifestyle that she has become accustomed to, Kitty uses her profile brilliantly to hide what she believes is her real job in the world: to rid the Earth of undeserving men! Faster than you can say "look what you made me do," she starts not-so-accidentally killing other men who are guilty of everything from ghosting to rape. There is a pretty drastic plot twist towards the end as well, and I didn't really see that one coming. I literally couldn’t put this book down, I was just so engrossed in Kitty and what the heck she was going to do next!Did I totally take my Bookstagram photo in my firm’s law library/coffee bar surrounded by a bunch of dudes standing in line for their afternoon pick-me-up from the fancy barrista machine? Her first kill is accidental, but when she gets away with it she starts to feel an urge for more, and quickly realises just how easy it is to find the worst of the male population. It’s pretty silly that sometime’s a book that centers on a woman and perhaps more emotional themes (love, loss, self exploration) is given this label, especially when that label can imply ‘less than’ to certain subsets of readers.

The book has multiple plot holes and so much of it doesn't make sense, but from a satirical point of view it does delightful portrayal the vacuous world of Insta-celebrity; it does provide the hilarity of highly improbably and funny murders; there are outrageous scenes throughout; and the whole book is one dark witty comedy- 7 out of 12, Three Star read for me. A delightfully wicked story, I enjoyed How To Kill Men and Get Away With It, perhaps a teeny bit more than I should of. Kitty definitely doesn’t suffer fools and her one woman crusade to rid the world of those men who she believes the world is better off without, is at times, hilariously funny yet emotive. are ya'll letting a mans pull your titties out and dj your nips on a regular Tuesday afternoon in a CCTV monitored elevator? How to Kill Men was an absolute treat to read , sending out American Psycho and Promising Young Women vibes. These are men who you could argue (maybe) that deserve it, liars, cheaters, predators, misogynists, so it’s not really murder is it? Unfortunately, since I had actually read a similar-themed book pretty recently, that meant the timing was definitely off for me to pick this book. Don't miss Katy Brent's new wickedly witty novel, The Murder After the Night Before , available now!
