We definitely need more books like this which highlight the importance of accepting who you are rather than following what the crowd does. Because even though the animals scoff at Steve, you notice in the illustrations they all start tying other things to their heads to be more exceptional. Little Blue Truck has been chugging along since 2008, but there seems to be plenty of gas left in the tank. Families can talk about what makes each member of the family exceptional, like what Steve hopes for in A Horse Named Steve. The tone of the book allows children to feel like they’re in on the joke while the main character isn’t, adding to the amusement.

We’re always on the lookout for stories that will appeal to creators of other children’s entertainment media, as Kelly’s work clearly has. Irish animation studio Sixteen South has partnered with Nelvana to develop and co-produce A Horse Named Steve. Team spirit and individual achievement are certainly lacking in this attempt to explore what makes a horse (or a child).

For instance, I absolutely ADORED the ‘Sniff Sniff’ and ‘Nom Nom’ inserts, and found them immensely entertaining! I loved the book from start to finish and now I feel that I am truly an EXCEPTIONAL (and ORIGINAL ) blogger, no props needed.Humorously, Steve manages to strap the horn to his head and prances off to show his friends what he has discovered. Nelvana Studios VP Athena Georgaklis added, “Steve’s larger-than-life antics and slapstick comedy have delighted both children and adults alike. Ryan covers tech, talent and general kids entertainment news, with a passion for kids rap content and video games. A Horse Named Steve follows an endearingly silly horse named Steve who finds a magical golden horn in the forest. I can’t wait to see Steve strutting around on TV screens, having found the perfect home with Sixteen South and Nelvana.
