Sammy has survived an abusive relationship and came back into their lives in Heartbreak Hero (which I highly recommend). I found the writing style really off putting and jarring; there are a lot of 'jokes' direct to the reader that were more like Dad jokes and really took me out of whatever was happening.This story is based in the Redleg security world and Sawyer has to protect Sammy from new and past threats. She has her moments that she works through, but let’s be real with the crap she has been through she deserves to have some moments! But keeping his love for her a secret is too much and he can not tell her no when she uses "that" tone of voice.

This book is currently available in Discreet and Original (man cover) paperback, as well as this ebook. She has such a knack for writing a romcom/suspense story that will have you laughing out loud one minute and your heart racing the next. Openly flirting with each other was one thing but Sawyer fighting his attraction to Sammy was both hot and hilarious. I just hope the one sort of loose end from the story is tied up nice, tight, and happy, which knowing this author, it will be. In Drone Alone, it was established that when Leo says "Mommy", it means he's hiding something from Tasha.

When Sammy is kidnapped and the RedLeg gang take care of her, she and Sawyer spend a lot of time together. With a full RPG you can assume that it is unlikely to be someone’s first experience of RPGs or that if it is, they are being introduced by an experienced role player to the hobby. I loved the characters of Sammy and Sawyer--I felt every angst that they felt--from their abusive life experiences. However, when Leo said "Mommy" to Tasha, she did not suspect Leo was hiding something (which, in this case, were the nature of his missions and injuries).

Jackie is a fresh face on the romance author scene destined to shake things up with her signature blend of light-hearted comedy, over the top characters and romantic heartwarming moments. Follow Jackie so you don't miss out on her new releases, which are destined to be topping the best seller lists.This is the first episode where neither Douglas nor Perry appear while Donald is absent, as usually one or both of them are present while Donald is out. However, Caitlin invited herself, whereas the former two were invited in by a member of the Davenport Bionic Academy, which means their visits were approved. Tropes: Brother's Best Friend, Secret Relationship/Forbidden Love, and Friends to Lovers with a dash of Forced Proximity. And together, I thought they made a nice couple, but overall, I found the book more meh than thrilling.

I didn't notice any typos but there may have been 1 or 2 since I couldn't read the whole book in one sitting this time. It wouldn’t be a book by this author if it didn’t include laughs, sarcasm, snarky dialogue, and witty banter.
