About this deal

Fans of these presets will also welcome news that a new one is due shortly after launch: Time Tunnel will see the gimbal perform a 360-degree roll while capturing a hyperlapse. The DJI RSC 2 folds up pretty small thanks to its folding handle design, and the Combo kit comes with this neat fitted case, with a further top compartment (not seen here) for accessories. With this you tilt and turn your phone to control the gimbal, and when you’ve tuned the settings carefully you can create very smooth movements – and you can restrict it to just pan or just a tilt movement too. As the hinge is used for the new ‘Sling’ shooting mode, it’s necessarily sturdy, firmly locking in place without any play. This compact stabilizer for SLR and mirrorless cameras features a foldable design and intuitive functions.

Redesigned axis knobs work with the existing locks to make the balancing process slicker, but in practice it’s still quicker to collapse the gimbal without resetting the axis positioning. The ActiveTrack system is clever, using your phone and the DJI app to track a subject (you’ll need the phone mount so that the phone is pointing where your camera is), though it can lose contact with your subject if your movement is too fast or another object gets in the way. This compact stabiliser for mirrorless and DSLR cameras features a foldable design and intuitive features, empowering filmmakers, one-man crews, and content creators everywhere. The redesigned carrying case features a waterproof body with dedicated compartments for each of the RSC 2's parts.

The RSC 2 is constructed from durable materials like steel, as well as lightweight materials, such as aluminium, to reduce the weight. You can change your choices at any time by visiting Cookie preferences, as described in the Cookie notice. The gimbal also supports the optional DJI RavenEye transmission system, which allows for remote 1080p video transmission, ActiveTrack 3. You can also swipe up on the LCD screen to enter the front dial settings page, and select a parameter to be controlled by the front dial, such as ISO and aperture. SuperSmooth mode compensates for micromovements and increases torque, stabilising even 100mm zoom lenses.

There’s no active axis control in this setting; instead, the camera is held dead steady and pointing straight ahead, allowing you to shoot smooth content in the ideal orientation for social media. The rubber elements on the handle are also subtler than those found on the Ronin-SC, with a smoother texture that’s neatly integrated yet offers a good amount of grip. The DJI RSC 2 has pretty much everything you could ask for, including a clever folding design for easy storage and a ‘briefcase’ shooting mode, an OLED display so that you don’t have to adjust everything with its companion smartphone app, new Titan stabilisation algorithms, a 3kg payload that can handle mirrorless cameras and DSLRs, even with quite big lenses, and a 14-hour battery life. Even more impressive is the buttery smooth panning and tilting, which creates seamless shots that would be simply impossible by hand.

Balancing the RSC 2 is easier than the Ronin SC, with independent locking axes and clearer controls – though beginners may need to watch a couple of YouTube videos to. Remain in Sport mode: Press and hold the M button and press the trigger twice to remain in Sport mode.

A few cameras offer electronic focus control with the control wheel on the front of the grip; otherwise you’ll need DJI’s manual focus motor attachment, sold separately or included in the Combo kit. Also, the batteries can be charged via the handle while the gimbal is being used in operation (except in extreme high/low temperatures).Backed up by stronger axis motors, the RSC 2 is therefore compatible with a whole range of DSLR cameras. This focus wheel on the front of the handle is a neat idea, but unless you have a camera that supports electronic focus control, it's really for DJI's own focus motor add-on (included in the Combo kit). The RSC 2 uses the DJI Titan stabilisation algorithm, an improved version over their previous one that provides better stabilisation and fluidity. If you have a heavier rig, consider the DJI RS2 or Zhiyun Crane 3—both handle bigger cinema cameras, up to 10 pounds for the RS2 and 14 pounds for the Crane 3. Its revised folding design is clever and convenient, while the addition of a 1-inch OLED display usefully serves up instant info.
