About this deal

This sequel is a B-movie through and through, but there’s some fantastic creature work here, and Schoelen is always a plus in horror. Your enjoyment of the flick will likely depend on how accepting you are of the director’s particular brand of humor, but this is a deeply weird story that only gets better with age. Tusk may not be a perfect film, suffering from a slightly bloated runtime and some uneven jokes, but if Smith’s goal was to create a unique cinematic experience that both shocks and entertains in equal measure, I think he really hit the ball out of the park here. It winds up in the sewer, the precise spot being used as a dumping ground for growth hormones and waste by a local laboratory. Four young teenagers, plus one pre-teen boy, try to find a way to stop the angry space monsters before they reproduce and literally eat humanity.

In a script that’s not that great, it does the critical thing that matters most in a creature feature. He also works on other magazines, including Monster Bash, Horror Biz, Monster Mania and Monsterpalooza. Ted (complete with a hand puppet of the monster) also welcomes viewers to his cult classic in a very hokey intro. The late, great character actor’s unhinged take on Howard is so iconic that it feels like the film only exists as an excuse to allow the veteran thespian a chance to completely let loose.A grotesque creation defined by its cavernous, teeth-filled mouth, the titular menace is memorable, giving the filmmakers something horrible to work with as they stage numerous stalking sequences, with the beast's sperm-like offspring (a direct reference to "Alien") excitedly taking down the locals, including a climatic assault on a lunch party populated with middle-aged women. Edit: Reader Travis Hill pointed out that this sequel does carry forth the Lovecraft adaptation theme, as the plot is an adaptation of “The Curse of Yig. While I've never seen "The Deadly Spawn" before, I can't imagine this Blu-ray accurately represents the feature as it was originally exhibited. A. Bohus), gathering a wild range of influences to pay tribute to the matinee entertainment of his youth.

There’s still a fascination with horror franchises that refuse to connect in any way, save for a title.

I feel like there just shouldn’t be a “but…” after “I know he’s gone through some serious health issues. A group of campers stumble upon the remnants of a meteorite and discover some fanged, worm-like creatures have hitched a ride to Earth. Bloopers and Outtakes (4:56, SD) provides a charming peek at the BTS effort, with cameras capturing the creation of special effects and cast interplay as the film wound its way through production.
