About this deal

Both are pull up leathers, meaning they’re jam-packed with oils and waxes so you don’t need to put a lot of effort into care. It seems like the Bushacre 2 was built to solve a few of the main issues we have with the Desert Boot.

All of the Desert Boot models ship in a pretty basic tan cardboard box, except for the “Originals” Desert Boots that arrive in a much nicer charcoal grey box.

The Bushacre 3 also has no lining, but does have a fabric toe puff/interlining above the toe box and a very minute suede or fabric heel cup. It’s not just Clarks—I’ve noticed this with several other brands doing the chukka/Desert Boot style. Dappered® helps you work the retail system so that you can be comfortable, look sharp, and save money. This lends a rustic charm to the boot, but makes it a hard sell if you need a boot for anything formal.

I will say that the Bushacre pairs look a little darker than the other two pairs, but they’re all within the same vein of beeswax. International products have separate terms, are sold from abroad and may differ from local products, including fit, age ratings, and language of product, labeling or instructions. That said, the sole isn’t as spongy, so if you stand in one place for a long time, it can become uncomfortable. While on the thinner side, this chocolate brown “Beeswax” shade of pull-up leather is oily and waxy and gives the boots a matte, almost dusty look when new. If you’ve ever owned a pair of Clarks Desert Boots, you’ll know that this leather shows every crease, scratch, and dent almost immediately when worn. The Bushacre’s hard, brown sole was the better choice for those who wanted more grip and less wear and tear. Plus, we love the fact that the Desert Boot is the classic chukka, and we like it the way it was 70 years ago.

On the other side, we have the fan favorite “Originals” Desert Boot and it’s newest challenger, the Desert Boot 2. There are only two eyelets which would be fine if the top one was high enough, but they are too low. Does the style align with current trends, and does the design contribute to the comfort and functionality of the boots? The Bushacre 3 is the runner up with the Ortholite foam insole and softer faux crepe rubber outsole. However, because this leather is so oily/waxy, a vigorous brushing will move those oils around and cover up almost any daily defects. I’m not on my feet for lengthy periods of time, so I never felt soreness when wearing these, but if you work in an industry where you’re standing for hours on end (service, medical, etc. For an in-depth guide on how to care for your Clarks Bushacre 2 boots, check out our YouTube video on cleaning the Desert Boots.
