The Bosch 1617EVS is a good router but an 80MM spindle is 3 5/32 inches so the Bosch is not much bigger but would not fit in an 80MM router mount. now if only they protected that power switch from dust getting in there… it would have been perfect (I heard some people that had dust get in the power switch and disabled it… I just blow air at it after each use and keep it extra clean (cause I'm anal about cleanliness) so I haven't gotten anywhere close to such a thing… but apparently it's a possibility).

I think I may go ahead with upgrading to a three-phase spindle/motor combo, however I want to know if it makes any sense to go with the following: 1. Good power, soft start is a great feature, variable speed, and as mentioned simple intuitive controls. This is not a very big deal with the router mounted to a router table, but I still appreciate the feature.
