Griffith is distraught at Guts' departure, and in a lapse of judgment he is caught sleeping with Charlotte. I do find that the main story rag a little and that's why I drop half a star, but still very entertaining!

The relationship between Guts and Jill shows us that Guts is still in touch with his human side after the atrocities of the Black Swordsman arc may have convinced us otherwise. After Isidro's group eliminate the last of Mozgus's disciples, the inquisitor overpowering him while the flames keeping the corpses at bay die out, Guts uses his miniature bombs to blow apart the unprotected chink in the inquistitor's armored body to kill him.Berserk Deluxe Edition Volume 6 continues the epic and dark journey of Guts and his relentless quest for revenge. The four Guardian Angels of the God Hand appear and inform Griffith that his tribulations have led to him being chosen as their final member, which requires him to sacrifice the Band of the Hawk to everyone's shock.

The Eclipse marks the major turning point in the story from Game of Thrones style medieval drama to the lovecraftian nightmare fest that we only get a small taste of in the Black Swordsman arc. While in a king's employ, the attraction between the king's daughter and Griffith and the growing favor of the king towards the Hawk leader raises the hackles of the king's jealous brother, who plots to have Griffith summarily assassinated.

But if the plot fails, the king's son will likely have to deal with Guts and his titanic broadsword, and the results of such confrontations are rarely pretty. Misogyny, or maybe just misunderstanding of women, is sadly rather pronounced in this volume - and that's why it doesn't get any higher rating.
