About this deal

The CS1 supports Apple AirPlay 2, so you can stream audio from any app on an i-device or Macintosh computer, or from an iTunes library on a Windows PC.

NAD Electronics International, a division of Lenbrook Industries Limited (“NAD”) furnishes this software and/or program, and online documentation, licenses their use to you as provided in this Agreement. But even if Chromecast had been working as it should, it would still leave the very highest level of lossless audio on these services (24-bit/192kHz) out of reach. I wanted to ask the question first to see if there was a ‘no brainer’ solution, rather than download lots of random apps that may or may not work effectively. Believe it or not, if you want to connect a Bluetooth device to the CS1, you’ll need to grab something thin and pointy and use it to press the button that’s hidden in the hole. You can connect the CS1 to your home network via Wi-Fi or hardwire its LAN Ethernet port to your network router or an access point, or use Bluetooth® to pair the CS1 with your mobile device.

I don't expect any of this to deter any half decent DAC and should assure high level of compatibility as well.

CS1 interfaces with your home network via Wi-Fi or LAN Ethernet port; Bluetooth allows it to pair with mobile devices. Once I adjusted for the different levels on the analog and optical connection, they sounded virtually identical. The idea behind this CS1 is that it can be easily integrated with an existing legacy system without streaming technology. They took a back seat to all-in-one wireless speakers for a while, but lately we’ve seen a resurgence of dedicated streamers, probably because of the growing popularity of lossless CD quality and hi-res audio that’s now available from services like Apple Music. Thanks also for the clarification - apologies for my naivety - I’m just getting into the dark realms of streaming.
