About this deal

The Jura 18 Year Old single malt has been matured in American white oak barrels, and is enriched by time spent in French oak wine casks from a Premier Grand Cru Classe Bordeaux producer.

Light peat, brown sugar and orange on the nose leads to smooth burnt toffee taste, with softer citrus and coffee on the finish. It now runs at a capacity of 2,200,000 litres per year under the watch of current owners Whyte and Mackay Ltd. Jura whisky is available in a variety of single malts and vatted malts and Jura Superstition is a personal favourite amongst the staff here at Hard To Find Whisky. After maturing in mainly American oak ex-bourbon barrels, the whisky is decanted into Jura’s iconic bottle – with its broad shoulders and rounded edges originally designed to withstand rough sea journeys. Fabulous 14-year-old single malt from Jura, this expression was matured in a selection of American white oak, bourbon, and American rye whiskey barrels.Nose Zesty wafts of fresh lemon peel and candied orange open things up followed by mint leaves and blossom. With every sip of the rye-spiced richness, you experience the bright and characterful spirit of Jura.

Winding through lush countryside and tracing the shores, it truly is a beautifully scenic route to our distillery. I too was not sure at first but soon realised that this has a lot to offer in terms of smell and taste and has a fairly long finish. Jura whisky is made using the crystal clear waters that run off ‘The Paps of Jura’, the tallest mountain range on the isle. Additionally, regional characteristics such as climate, water source, and local traditions contribute to a diverse range of flavor profiles for single malt enthusiasts to explore. I am disappointed as Jura was a good distillery once, but this has non of the complexity or warmth that I remember from 15 years ago.Content on this site is not intended to substitute for advice given by medical practitioner, pharmacist, or other licensed health-care professional. One of only 285 bottles, this Single Malt from Jura was allowed to mature for 12 years in a single refill hogshead cask. It really does take a while due to the ever changing flavours which start off full of fruit but then settle into a deeper, pepper taste which compliments the fruit perfectly. Today, almost every family on the island has a member who works in our distillery, with our distillery or in whisky-related tourism.

Each time you indulge in a pour, you're sharing a dram with the islanders who played a role in crafting it. Made by a tiny island community, on an island where the 200 residents are outnumbered by some 5,000 deer, Jura distillery makes a surprisingly light whisky - expertly balancing the sweet and the smoky. Matured in American white oak ex-bourbon and hand selected American Rye barrels, the casks deliver depth and complexity to this 14 year old Single Malt with layered spice, aromatic, herbal and floral qualities. The driver will input your year of birth into their device and may then require an ID check to complete the age verification process. The new distillery's architect was William Delmé-Evans, who had previously been involved with Tullibardine and later went on to build Glenallachie.Palate: Oily and moreish with spices - cinnamon and cloves - with an underlying salted caramel depth. Generally I love Jura for its smooth brandy-like velvetty flavour, I an not entirely convinced by this particular permutation. Single malt whisky does have a distinct and pronounced flavor profile, often with a depth of flavor and a high degree of complexity which some connoisseurs may interpret as “better”. Palate Oily and subtly spicy at first, before notes of earthy vanilla pod and chocolate-covered raisins develop.
