Black Label The Director’s Cut is a Scotch whisky created by Master Blender Jim Beveridge in collaboration with visionary filmmaker Denis Villeneuve for Blade Runner 2049 which premiered in Los Angeles on 3rd October 2017 and stars Ryan Gosling, Harrison Ford and Ana De Armas to name but a few. Bartender Tenzin Samdo created the Penicillin 2049, his own futuristic twist on the classic cocktail, using ultrasound to create a sensory cloud of ginger essence. master blender Jim Beveridge with the film’s director, Denis Villeneuve, with one eye on how whiskies of the future might taste. Clouds of neo-noir smoke combined with a gentle glow of neon sweetness, otherworldly fruit and an undercurrent of pepper.

The flavours are all recognisable, but there’s been a remix here which on the one hand delivers less compromise with the clarity of individual elements, and on the other comes across as slightly heavy handed.
